Beautiful building, wonderful host”

This place is such a gem. The building is beautiful, and Mark is such a great host. His kitchen is so well equipped, and he whips up beautiful poached eggs for breakfast. The room is nicely decorated and the backyard is nice to chill out in the summer evening. He offers good travel tips and the little trip up to Wharariki beach was so much fun despite the rain. Would stay again if we find our way to Takaka once more!

amazing place”

this place is the best b&b i took the king spa room which was so nice, 10 meters of the room you have a creek with lovely scenery. even an outdoor bath. the breakfast was good and fresh, mark the manager is a great host , he really takes care of you as well as the rest of the staff. i loved my time there

Stayed in the Spa Room, was great!!!”

We stayed two nights in the spa room in January 2012. It was great. The room was great as was the tub. The grounds were nice. Mark had a map for us when we arrived and told us what to do and where to go. It was very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here if you are going to be in Takaka, and comimg over for a couple days if you wern't planning on it.

Beautiful B&B”

I had a lovely stay at the Shady Rest. The historical house is gorgeous and the welcome I was given by Louise, and her friendliness and hospitality during my stay were off the scale! I can't speak highly enough of Louise. The house is near the town but very peaceful - I liked it so much I stayed an extra night. The only negative feedback I can give is that there were no toiletries (apart from soap) in the bathroom. Some little bottles of shampoo, lotion etc would have been welcome.
