Sheildaig Farm

The property was exceptionally clean, host was incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was freshly cooked each morning to specific requests and they had measurements in place to account for coronavirus safety which were fantastic. The room was gorgeous. The bed is then comfiest thing we’ve ever slept on! The shower was also brilliant and the kitchen comes with a kettle, toaster and microwave so you can make odd little meals if need be. It’s in a lovely location, little set back from the town but a lovely 20 minute walk into Balloch. The location itself is beautiful and there is a short walk designed on the top of the property that looks over the hills which is lovely on a clear day. Couldn’t recommend it enough. It really was a the best few days, even if the weather didn’t hold out particularly well!

We had an overnight stop at Sheildaig Farm and it was perfect for what we needed. Lesley was helpful from the moment we made the booking, messaging us with recommendations for an evening meal. The room was bijou but it was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed, including a fruit bowl and some bottled water. Some breakfast items were in the fridge in the room and Lesley delivered a delicious cooked breakfast, too. As it was such a lovely morning, we ate it at a picnic table in the grounds but there was also a small table in our room. I am gluten intolerant and Lesley had gone to the trouble to get some gluten free items in specially for me. There is a little path from the property with lovely views of Loch Lomand and we saw a beautiful sunset from there.

Lesley was so welcoming and everything was perfect in the room. The little extras made it even more special. We had travelled from Skye so we were tired on arrival, but to have fresh milk in the fridge for a cup of tea and fresh orange juice was wonderful. There were other treats too such as a fresh fruit bowl and chocolates! The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was hot and delicious. Lesley kindly made our breakfast early so we could continue our long journey home. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to anyone if they needed a lovely place to stay. Set in stunning surroundings with the most friendly and helpful host. The weather meant we could eat our breakfast on the picnic bench in the garden, which was first class food. We walked to the top of the garden and enjoyed the views of the Loch and sat at the bench taking in the beautiful scenery over a glass of wine. Fridge in the room with milk, juice and yoghurts. Fruit in the room and little sweetie treats. Thoroughly enjoyed our little escape in the barn converted room and star gazed out of the velux windows overnight in a comfortable, spotlessly clean bed!

Bumpy track towards the property requires care driving due to potholes!

The room was warm & comfortable and the owner, Lesley, was outstanding; she did everything possible to accommodate our needs, within the confines of staying open during the pandemic. Breakfasts were hearty and we were given some great sightseeing tips. Will definitely recommend to friends & family and gladly stay again.

Having a bath to be able to soak weary muscles, after a long day’s walk, would have been welcome - the shower was lovely though. The road to the property is very uneven, lots of deep ruts, so probably best not to bring a car with low-profile wheels!

The breakfast selection was varied. The food was cooked to perfection and delivered to our door. The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need. The service was exceptional and the host could not have been more helpful. For a B&B, this was gold standard. The view from the property is stunning.

The road to the accommodation is a bit bumpy, but easily manageable if you take your time. It certainly will not put us off returning to Sheildaig Farm.

The owner Lesley was extremely friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable about the local area. Our room was bright, spacious and had everything we needed. All Covid protocols were followed to the letter. The cooked breakfast was delicious. The welcome from the family pooches also brightened our day! Our stay was enjoyable, comfortable and I wish it had been longer. We will definitely be back.

Wow! We only had one night at Sheildaig Farm but memories from last night will last much longer. The farm is set on a hillside overlooking Loch Lomond and is stunningly beautiful. Lesley is a true super host and spent ages chatting with us, she’s a lovely lady and very informative and helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very COVID safe. Acres and acres (literally) of space with desperate entrances and a substantial breakfast delivered to the door. A million percent recommendation, thank you so much

Nothing, Sheildaig Farm is simply lovely

The location is great and our room was modern, comfortable and clean. There was everything you might need in a b&B like generous tea, coffee biscuits and milk as well as a fridge, microwave, kettle and hair drying. The property is festooned with flowers and there is a little courtyard perfect for relaxing on a sunny day. Beautiful views too. We had a very warm welcome and a relaxed stay. Highly recommend.

The Scottish breakfast was very good and delivered to your room. The orange juice , milk ,cereal and bread for toast and preserves were already in the room. There was adequate crockery and cutlery etc to make a packed lunch or to heat a pre prepared meal in the microwave. However nice restaurants very close too.Kettle available to make hot drinks and plenty of tea, coffee supplied. So, you can be independent, with your own access to your room and outside seating area. The owner is very welcoming and knowledgable on the local area. There are lovely walks from the farm and very peaceful and just off the beaten track in such a very popular tourist area.

We had a fantastic welcome! As we were on our honeymoon we were given a lovely bottle of wine on our arrival. The location is peaceful and the accommodation was beautifully clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Lesley was so helpful and looked after us throughout our stay. It is 30min drive to Glasgow Airport. The cooked breakfast in the morning was a highlight!!!

Great private location in an area close to local Loch Lomond amenities, both by foot or car. The room was excellent, very comfortable with a lovely shower, large bed, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Plenty of tea and coffee options. Fridge contained fresh orange and milk, yoghurts and great assortment of jams, marmalades and honey. Freshly cooked Scottish breakfast was fantastic. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely spacious room which was well decorated. Fitted with fridge kettle. Tea and coffee biscuits fruit and a bottle of wine as we staying for two nights. Host Leslie was wonderful and made us a fantastic breakfast both mornings as well as telling us about the local activities. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are looking for a relaxing and photogenic break.

Only negative I can think of is the road up to the property. It is incredible bumpy. When we phoned a taxi on the first night we were told they might not be able to find a driver who would be willing to drive up that toad to get us. But a taxi arrived after 5 minutes and we had no issues getting taxi back that evening or any issues the second day.

From the second we pulled up off the round about up towards the venue, we knew we were in for a winner! The view of Loch Lomond from the drive was exceptional, and then we pulled up and met Lesley who as well as being incredibly lovely and welcoming was knowledgeable about the area we well as being super "Covid Aware!" The room was big with all the needed Ammeneties and amazing breakfast including Tattie Scones and Lorne Sausage! Lesley treated myself and now wife to a beautiful hamper on our last evening to begin our wedding celebrations early, and she could not have done more to make us feel more relaxed, calm and welcomed with all the help from the amazingly adorable Penny! 😁

The room was beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed and lots of little extras. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Host was so welcoming and friendly and the covid precautions put in place were excellent. Very short drive into the centre but worth it for the peace and beautiful surroundings.

Great location for discovering Loch Lomond, Lesley our host was wonderful & had thought of everything to make our stay both comfortable & safe Complimentary bottle of wine & chocolates on arrival Breakfast was delicious & plentiful Had a great meal recommendation from Lesley for the Duck Bay Hotel we ate in the lobby as fully booked but menu was the same & very good food All in all it was a wonderful break at Sheildaig farm , definitely worth a stay

We had a fantastic stay at the farm. We were travelling with our 4 month old daughter, so overnight trips take a little bit of planning, but Lesley couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect, the room was really comfortable and the breakfast was great. We will definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

We had a superb stay at Sheildaig Farm. Lesley couldn’t have done more to make our stay comfortable. The room was lovely- spotlessly clean with a huge, comfortable, bed. Lots of thoughtful extras- chocolates, wine and bits for our baby. A nice walk into Balloch, but away from the hustle and bustle.

Accomodation is in the perfect location, rural but also quite close to town and Loch Lomond shores. The host was very friendly, accommodating, welcoming communicative and professional. She has an amazing dog which was very entertaining. The room has an en suite and is very cosy. It has everything you might need. There is even a fridge, microwave, kettle and a toaster there. The bed was comfy. Really enjoyed our stay there and will be looking forward to come back again when next in Scotland. Highly recommend it.
