Great stay at Shimoda Tokyu hotel”
Service was impeccable, especially the young lady at front of house. Cannot remember her name though. Hotel was spotlessly clean. Bigger than average room. The windows opened which was a bonus for us, as all hotel rooms are stuffy. Shuttle bus was good and ran on time. Shame there wasn’t an evening service as it was a steep walk back at night. The buffet breakfast was excellent and catered for all tastes. Coin washing machines which were very convenient. 100y wash, 100y dryer. Detergent 52y. I can’t believe there are any negatives for this place. Must be from extremely fussy people. 🙄. All hotel staff are so friendly. I hope the owners are proud of them! 😀

Americans in Japan ”
We were welcomed at the train station and transferred to the hotel. Wonderful amenity. Our room was perfect for four adults and 2 very small children. Swimming pool( maybe a later closing time would be nice) was very clean and well supervised. Beach was close by. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the dining room. Buffet breakfasts were included in our rate and they were delicious. I have only one suggestion, maybe having a less expensive rest for family style dining as well as the the elegant buffet style meal. We were treated so nicely by all of the reception staff. Perfect! Everything’s just perfect. ”
I don’t think we will book any other hotels when we are in Shimoda. Everythig is just perfect: friendly staff, rooms are very clean, the buffet breakfast is so so so good and the last but not the least, the outdoor onsen would wow you. This was our second time staying with Tokyu hotel, and we will for sure go back to this hotel again.

Its a great hotel and good value for money! Stuff were friendly and nice, great sea view from your balcony and spa. Swimming pool was clean and cute. Breakfast was amazing! They offer great quality foods, like milk, vegetables, dressings, ice cream etc. We would definitely comes back!

Pristine Hotel in a Beautiful location ”
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The facilities were immaculate and you could not beat the view from our room. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had here in Japan. The staff were courteous and were very helpful on their recommendations for places to eat dinner and recreational activities in the area. Good Job Tokyu Shimoda. I’ll be back for sure.

Beautiful ocean view”
I travelled with a friend and we stayed one night in an ocean front room with a fantastic view. The location is a bit out of the way and not really walking distance to the town and shops. We had dinner in the restaurant because we didn't want to venture out in the dark, but it was very expensive and the grilled fish didn't even come with soup or rice - we were still hungry afterwards. The onsen spa facility was very nice and I think summer would be best for swimming and walking around beach area. The room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was good.

Great hotel Great staff”
The hotel is a little bit far and on the mountain, but there is a shuttle bus at the exit of a train station until around 5PM. My room has a great view and clean with a little complimentary snack. I forgot my cloth after checked out, so I rode a shuttle bus back to the hotel to pickup my thing. My round seemed to be a last bus before a lunch break, so I will need to wait for the next bus around an hour. However, a male reservation staff is very kindly and offer me a ride to the train station without needed to wait for an hour! I definitely will stay at this hotel if I ever come to Shimoda again.

Great Hotel at a great location”
This was our second stay here and we have been very satisfied with the room and the service. The restaurant "Ma Cher Mer" had a very nice atmosphere and served a super delicious dinner. Morning buffet was also great with a large variety of tasty and healthy dishes. We reserved a rather compact room, but that was our choice, because we wanted to have a wonderful ocean view. The mattress was so comfy and good quality - and the hotel even arranged foam pillows for us ! The staff is very kind and helpful: we asked about a good Sushi restaurant for lunch on the day of our return, and the staff immediately knew a good place to go - and they even reserved it for us. We will definitely stay here again. We can recommend this hotel to everyone.

The staff and service at the hotel are fantastic. Everyone is warm and friendly and goes out of their way to help you. Our room was on the top floor and had a breathtakingly beautiful view of the ocean. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, a bit small but well appointed. Highly recommend the outdoor onsen which overlooks the ocean. It’s incredibly relaxing. We came by car and Shirahama beach and the Shimoda Aquarium plus a bunch of other sightseeing spots are within about 5-10 min drive from the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing location and awesome buffets!”
You can't beat this hotel for great location and price! It's as good as any resort, offering spectacular views and a walk down a few stairs to the beach and the dinner and breakfast buffets were wonderful! Onsen also available on site. Snorkeling, diving, swimming with dolphins, kayaking etc all available at this hotel! No need to spend money on guided snorkeling, just brink your own snorkel gear and walk down to the beach and have at it for free! The water is crystal clear and the perfect temperature! Tip: The A/C is a bit weak in comparison to US A/C's, so use an extra card to keep in the room light switch to keep A/C and electricity flowing in your room while you are out so your room has time to cool and stays cool. If you remove the card the electricity including A/C shuts off automatically.

Very nice sized rooml & excellent view from hotel!”
This is a very nice hotel with dining on-site and most excellent view of sea from the hotel. Our room was a nice size & very friendly staff. There is a shuttle bus to/from train station 9a-5:30 (ish) but close location to town if you wanted to walk or taxi. Beware- the walk home is uphill :-) but we didn't mind.

You can catch the sunrise from the sea view rooms/garden - view is amazing! Hotel is very clean and well maintained, staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on a hill so you will need to get whatever you need in the city before hopping on the shuttle up the hill.

A touch of old fashioned luxury”
The welcome we received was very warm. The young lady took us to our room and explained everything in detail. For example, how to use the Onsen. The room was the largest we ha e had on our 2 week tour around Japan. The hotel is situated on top of a steep hill - which provides outstanding views but is extremely hard to walk. We had a hire car as the price was the same as the rail ticket, so this was no problem. The town of Shimoda was really quiet after 8pm
