Comfortable room with private open air bath”

Comfortable room; Open air bath; Distinct breakfast

Spent one night in this hotel during my visit to Hakone and Gotemba. Just one bus ride from Hakone Yumoto train station. Hotel is located alongside the main road in Hakone, very near to bus stop in front of Shinanoki Highland Hotel. Room is quite spacious for a couple. We really loved the kotatsu (Japanese table with electric heater) that kept us warm in early spring. There is also private open air bath just outside of your window room facing the garden full of hydrangea flowers. The stone bath tub is spacious for single person to soak into. Be careful with bath water temperature as it is very hot with no means to lower it. Public open air bath on the second floor is recommended as it is much spacious with and much bearable water temperature. We were served traditional Japanese breakfast specific for each guest. Drinks, however, were self-service.

Very cosy hot spring hotel”

good value for money, great food, natural private hot spring, helpful staff

We found this hotel by chance, but glad that we did. The hotel is situated strategically if you are planning to do the round course in Hokone for 2 days 1 night. I would recommend to visit Hakone leisurely and stop by Shinanoki Ichinoya for the night before taking the cable car at Gora. This place offers tranquility and complete relaxation with natural private hot spring as highlight. The Japanese breakfast and dinner served were very authentic and the experience is truly memorable.

Idyllic hotel ”

Attached onsen in room, fantastic food

The hotel is located in a quiet corner in Hakone, away from the usual tourist hotspots. There is a bus stop near the hotel which makes it easy for us to get around Hakone. The food provided by the hotel was fantastic. Only drawback of this hotel is that it is a distance from Hakone Yumoto where most travellers from Tokyo arrive at Hakone.

A wonderful retreat in Hakone”

Location, private onsen, space

Stayed 2 nights. The boiled sea bream is a must order! Fresh and tasty. Note that the pork shabu shabu dinner will be changed to another pork dish if you stay more than one night. The dinner on the second night wasn't as appetizing. The beds were large and very comfortable. The pillows wete not fluffy or as comfortable. We booked this place because of the private onsen. It's spacious enough for two. If the water is too hot for your liking, you may call the front desk to adjust the temperature for you on their end. The complimentary roasted tea tastes great, the yukata fitted well (comes in various sizes), complete with toe socks and Japanese slippers. The bus stop which takes you to several places in Hakone is right in front of the ryokan. The Venetian glass museum is a 3 min walk to the left of the ryokan. A most pleasant, comfortable stay to conclude our 2-week family trip to Tokyo and Hakone.

Our own private onsen”

I would easily recommend this Ryokan to my friends. + Private onsen is simply amazing. + The Western Japanese style room was really spacious and comfortable. Nice and comfortable futon mattresses. + Bonus points for your own private kotatsu. + Nice Japanese style breakfast and dinner! + Location is not bad for a place like Hakone. Bus stop is just 2 minutes walk from inn, however the train station is 15-30 minute bus ride depending on which bus line you take. + Lots of nice walking distance restaurants and tourist spots. - A bit pricey if you're trying for a budget trip. Public day-pass onsen may be a better choice but if you're not comfortable with that and you have money to spend, this place is easily recommendable. They do have a public onsen but we did not go for that so we can't comment about the value.

private onsen, with clean and warm rooms”

private onsen, peaceful, awesome breakfast

The stay was definitely an unforgettable experience when visiting Hakone. We took a room with a private onsen (hotspring bath tub) during autumn, the temperatures were about 8degress celsius at night, and soaking in the onsen was a great and unforgettable feeling. The rooms itself was spacious and clean, and it came with a low table, where you can sit and tuck your legs under the electric blanket - that felt like a very authentic Japanese experience. Breakfast in the morning was sumptuous and a generous serving of rice, appetizers, a fish and some fruits. Our only qualms is there aren't many convenient shops nearby, so we couldn't go out for a night snack. But the 1 night stay was too short, and we wished to return some day in the future.

Perfect choice to experience your own private onsen”

We are very happy we booked here. The tatami style room was perfect. It has it's own private onsen in the comfort of your own room. There are also kimonos included in the room to complete the japanese themed room and onsen experience complete. I recommend that you book the room with dinner and breakfast as the shabu shabu and kaiseki dinner will give you that complete authentic ryokan experience. Staff are very helpful and are good with english. There are also public onsens available. Location is excellent since it walking distance to the venetian glass museum and to bus stops which you can use to go around hakone.

Relatively low price for room with private hot spring bath

shinanoki ichinoyu offers a relatively low price for room with private bath. location is quite convenient. service is good. there is staff who can speak chinese. there isn't night life at all. since the package does not include dinner, we was quite lucky to find a restaurant for dinner in 20 minutes walk with cold tempreature close to zero degrees. think it would definitely be better if the package can cover dinner.

Staff, cleanliness and great private onsen

Stay was great overall. Staff were helpful and were very conversant in English, especially in giving us directions to the Little Prince Museum, which was a couple of bus stops away. The Venetian Glass Museum was walking distance. The place was near a bus stop, and having the Hakone pass really helped a lot. The private onsen was really nice! Food-wise, it was just average; some of the entries were nice though, e.g, fish tempura and the appetizers.

Nice ryokan with private onsen”

Near Bus Stop, Food, Private & Public Onsen

There is a bus stop just outside the hotel, making it convenient to travel around especially if you have hakone pass. The room is fairly big, with a coffee table where you can slip your legs in and turn on the heater under the table. Our rooms have a private onsen which is really nice. They provide toiletries and also very nice tea bags for your use in the room. We book our room with dinner and breakfast. I recommend it as it might be hard to find dinner around here. The food is nice and tasty, but if you don't know what you are doing, the staff is very willing to help. Check in is strictly 3pm, even though we were there around 2ish.

Comfortable stay and helpful staff”

Easy to find

This hotel was a reasonable hotel. The entire Hakone area is a little on the pricey side when compared to more commercial areas of Japan. It does however provide a different and more traditional experience. We had the room with a private Onsen which was great in winter, despite it being rather small. Wifi and internet are only available in the lobby. The food may not appeal to those with a Western palate but we enjoyed in nonetheless. Unfortunately, the staff don't have the best English skills but they do try to be helpful. We had to use the transfer baggage service to the main train station so that we could travel during the day. The staff weren't able to understand our request to hold the bags for pick up later.

Fair but not spectacular”

Easy access, traditional food, private onsen

Easy to get to on the Hakone Tozan bus, (fully recommend purchasing the Hakone Free Pass for your stay), but the hotel is situated quite close to the main road, so while the private onsen was relaxing, you could here traffic noise so it wasn't idyllic. We didn't have any sort of view from our room's balcony. The traditional Japanese food was good (the Japanese breakfast was an... experience). Although the price is probably a little steep for what you get, it seemed to be the going rate for Hakone.

nice!! staffs are super friendly”

comfort! with nice view, good hotspring pool

excellent! staff are providing good services. The price of two meals are reasonable and delicious. We will be visit next time. Highly recommended. But the price during the peak season are little bit expensive! The hotel is located next to bus stop, it is easy to reach and find it. The decoration of the room is good! the hotspring inside the room is excellent, so it is not necessary to go to the public one.
