A little paradise. If you‘re looking for a place to unwind, eat amazing food and explore authentic island life - this is”

The cottages are located in a beautiful garden full of flowers and some chicken right at the beach. You can snorkel right in front of the property to see colorful corals and even turtles. The hostfamily is so warm and welcoming we felt at home as soon as we arrived. We even got coconuts as a welcoming gift. Mama Shirley is the most amazing cook, she surprised us with different dishes everyday, always freshly cooked and beautifully decorated with flowers served at the beach (she even lit candles in the evening, which made dinner so romantic). She is also the sweetest person, always putting a smile on our faces. Papa Moses and his cousin picked us up at Baclayon Pier to bring us to the island, he is a very kind man who took us dolphin watching the next day and we saw so many! Sister Mae was very helpful and kind throughout our stay, even organized fruits for us and accompanied us back to the mainland to withdraw cash on the last day, because we were stupid enough to think there would be an atm in Baclayon (you have to withdraw cash in Tagbilaran!) and ended up having not enough money to cover the bill. She was so kind and patient about this issue, we couldn’t be more grateful for that! The island itself is an amazing place to emerge yourself into local life. You have to walk to the other side of the island at least once to see how the people here live. There are roosters, goats, pigs, cows, dogs and cats everywhere surrounded by flowers and palmtrees. All the locals greeted us with a smile as we walked by looking at their houses.
Nothing to dislike. Here are a few things to note: - There are no atms on the Island or in Baclayon! Bring enough cash (Meals are 350php, Dolphin watching was 1000php when we went, so do the math before you arrive) - The cottages are built basic, there is no running water. There is a sit down toilet with a bucket to flush which works ok, and an improvised shower which actually works quite good - Of course there is no AC, but the fan works perfectly - the reception on the island is not good most of the times, but the wifi works quite well in most of the areas - Bring repellent! But there is a mosquito net - Use earplugs for the boatride your hair cells will thank you

We loved everything about our stay! The whole family is so kind and helpful. They really lead their little cottages with heart and soul. Life on the island is very simple and natural with just a few tourists. You can go snorkeling right in front of the cottages or just relax in one of the hammocks at the beach. Whether it‘s breakfast, lunch or dinner, Shirley‘s food is always delicious. They also have their own boat to pick their guests up and bring them back to Baclayon. We can‘t even describe how much we loved it there and hope we will be able to come back one day.

Incredibly nice people with accommodation right on the beach”

Shirley's Cottage is a dream place and an absolute insider tip. We were welcomed with open arms by Shirley and her husband. They gave us an unforgettable time on the beautiful island of Pamilican with their friendliness, hospitality, very delicious food (even vegan for us). We felt comfortable at all times and would recommend it to anyone!

Rustic paradise”

Relaxing beach front cottages. We had every meal sitting at the beach and at night would lie out to look at the stars. The best snorkeling on the beach was right in front of Shirley's - every day I saw a sea turtle as well as loads of fish and living coral. The island is lovely and we enjoyed walking across to the other side of it, getting fresh coconuts on the way, chatting with locals (everyone is very friendly) and walking back by the beach. We arranged with Shirley to do dolphin watching one morning and saw at least 30 dolphins. Sunsets are great from the left end of the beach and sunrise to the right side of the beach. We loved this island and Shirley's and will hopefully be back. It's worth noting that it is simple accommodation - clean and comfortable with a fan to cool you down. The island has no running water so the toilets are flushed by sea water which the staff fill tanks with that are connected to each room. They have a separate tank of fresh water for each room which means there is a very basic shower in your bathroom. They also supply a drum of fresh drinking water for each room. When you walk around the island and see villagers filling containers from wells you will appreciate the obvious effort the staff at Shirley's have gone to.
