We were three families who booked "Junior privilege suit" in this property. However, to our surprise, there were no such rooms at the resort. The only rooms were Classic, Superior and Cottage. One of our families checked in earlier and were allowed to checkin without the confirmation from other family members, though their names were not there in the bookings, a huge security flaw !! We showed them that on the agoda website, such rooms were still made available. On a heated discussion with them, we were given the cottage rooms. When we visited the entire property to check all the rooms, we were surprised that one of the classic rooms was nearly double in size than the other classic rooms. Only one classic room had a shower and a bathtub, and the others did not. Similar was the case with the cottage rooms. The kids play area hardly has any games. To reach the cottage room, you need to climb down many stairs. Even the in room dining closes at 1030pm !! Disappointing stay

Inadequate and untrained staff. Manager approach not good. Food services worst. house keeping , room services were awful . On 1st june we ordered Dinner at restaurant but till 45 minutes no response not even starter were served. We simply walk away at night 10 pm and had food in nearby restaurant. managers are not at all responsive. They use only one excuse word SORRY . WE WILL TRY BEST NEXT TIME. Worthless and complete wastage of money.

I am a big fan of the sterling group but this time I was very disappointed as there is construction going on in the property and the in-house activities were not carried out. It's a little untidy inside not good to stay with kids. I would really expect premium facilities for the price I am paying but it didn't live up to my expectations.

Walked out if the restaurant hungry after waiting for 45 mins on the day of arrival during lunch time. Breakfast for the next 3 days was a mess. Huge wait times for refills. Construction was underway hence dust laden premises. 10kms away from Gangtok. Getting Taxi was a pain. Many more...

Worst experience ever”
This hotel definitely doesn’t live up to its price tag. It lacks basic hygiene and cleanliness practices. Reception wouldn’t entertain your requests. Room I was staying in, was stinky, had no heating arrangements and dint have a hair drier and toiletries that a two star hotel provides these days.

too far off from the city, poor value for money”
Gangtok is a city where there is scarcity of vehicle and the traffic situation does not allow one to reach destinations in time. given this, Sterling Gangtok is way off the city. now if one wishes to stay far off, for which sterling is a good option, the property is extremely poor value for money. The F&B rates are so exorbitant ( Rs. 900/ for buffet breakfast including the taxes) given the spread that one has to think twice. Again, what gets offered to Sterling customers and to regular customers, there is confusion. As per the hotel owner, the buffet does not have a published tariff, its displayed on the restaurant notice board. we had stale paneer on one day and for that chef apologised and stated the reason due to increased temperature in last couple of days. valley facing rooms are large and beautiful. washrooms require upgrade.

Far away from the city”
Biggest challenge is that hotel is 9 kms from the heart of the city so travel is an expensive deal. There are no nearby shops and not just rooms, the food is quite expensive ; Rs. 750/- plus taxes for buffet breakfast. Unfortunately we got the smallest room of our category ( in the same category some rooms are small and some big, we were told) do it was not value for money. If it’s just a leisure trip of staying in the property, and selection of rooms is checked beforehand, it could be fine or be ready for surprises.

A great leisure stay with all the amenities and comfort possible. Room was well sanitized clean and beautiful. Quick room service and all the staffs are very sweet and super friendly. View from the room balcony is picturesque! We are thankful to Mr. Abhijeet for organizing a beautiful candle light dinner for us and made our anniversary even more special and big thanks to Suman for taking good care of us throughout our stay.

Not value for money”
Pros: We booked a premier cottage with valley facing for our two days stay in Gangtok. The cottage that we got (#101) did have the valley view but the guava trees were blocking to some extent. As it's on the extreme right end of the property, the room would suit if you would need lots of privacy. Otherwise if you are really looking for the valley view, then I would advise not staying in #101 and try on some other cottages. Quality of the food was ok and service was also good. Cons: Property is quite far away from the city (guess around 8 km). You would need to take a taxi if you want to go to the city/MG Road. Didn't like the arrangement to reach the cottage - Lobby is on the 8th floor and first you would have to take a lift to reach 5th floor, then walk to 4th floor, take another lift to 2nd floor, then use the stairs to reach the cottage. Not recommended for senior citizens. Construction should have been done in a much better way. In-Room Dining menu options were limited. Spread was less in Breakfast buffet as well. Not worth spending ~20K for two days instead you can easily find lots of other options near the city.

Room was very very dirty. The next day we were shifted to a better room. The staff was polite but the overall experience was very bad. Would never recommend anyone this property. 0 in cleanliness specially in the new wing.
