What a wonderful experience!”
Booked this place without any prior knowledge, as my intention was to visit the Zao Fox Village which is 15 minutes away. Absolutely the best time of my entire visit in Japan. I sent a Facebook message to Suzukiya Ryokan's page about a week prior to my arrival to request for a pickup from the Shiroishizao train station, in case you're wondering how to get in touch for the shuttle van. Pickup can also be done from the Shiroishi train station. Absolute value for the novel experience of a Ryokan, with room service during meals and the public bath. The outdoor bath was also an amazing experience during winter! Location-wise, seeing that it is in the outskirts of Japan, don't expect convenience stores or shopping malls. Still, 5 stars for the beautiful wilderness, you can even walk up the hill on a trekking path to explore the surrounding area. The rooms and the bath were very spacious and clean, and the staff were always friendly with greetings and during room service. Although they speak little no English, they tried their very best to make sure I had everything I need. Lastly, the owner Hige-san was a great pleasure to meet as he did everything to accommodate my stay at Suzukiya Ryokan. Upon arriving back in Tokyo, a friend of mine who was local informed me that the place was popular among Japanese people, and was rated quite highly. Lucky me!

We stayed 1 night in Dec. Was our first ryokan experience n it was just great. What we loved: - Even from the point i put in an enquiry ; they were very friendly n hospitable. I had put in the same enquiry about pickup from train station n whilst others gave me a flat "no,find your own way here"; Suzukiya ryokan replied with a "Yes;these are our pickup times,let us know where n when". We eventually didnt take up the shuttle offer bec we rented a car from the train staion,but I alreafy felt comfortable that our host were very gracious n accomodating. Thank you to the great staff (and his wife) who went out of their way to reply to my messages in English. -True Japanese hositality at it's finest. We arrived when it was dark ; but they had 2 staff members standing outside waiting to greet us n help us with luggage n packing. Inside there were others ready to help us with the luggages n bring us to our rooms. The staff were always smilinv n gracious. -Onsen: lovely onsens with Sheisheido brand bath products n face products. felt like a real pampering experience. -food: we had the Japanese style dinner n breakfast n it was good quality n abundant. highly reccomended to complete the ryokan experience. We had an awesome experience n will love to go again. Highly reccomended .

I had a wonderful time at Suzukiya Ryokan. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful. The food was delicious and very filling. I had a great night's sleep. It is very easy to get to and the staff were very helpful with transporation. I would definitely visit again. Thank you again and wish you the very best.

The Best Ryokan Near Fox Village”
The reviews are right - this ryokan is a separate experience in itself, aside from going to the Fox Village. We were hopping our way to Hakodate and this was one of our stops. Upon arrival at 2pm (it was a Tuesday), the reception asked us for our destination and said we wanted to go to the Fox Village the following day. He immediately told us that the Fox Village is closed on Wednesdays and prepared the shuttle service so that we can go to the park as soon as we can. Upon our arrival, we went to the onsen which my husband enjoyed very much. Our traditional room was large and the breakfast was overwhelmingly good, that we were in high spirits when we left towards Hakodate.

Absolutely recommend ”
The hotel was beautiful, the facilities (especially onsen!) were spot on and the room service breakfast was so intricate and delicious. But most of all the staff were amazing, it was our first time at a ryokan and the they made us feel so welcome. They were very kind and helpful even though we didn’t speak much Japanese. Also, we visited fox village the next morning, and they offered us free transport from the hotel. Really recommend :)

The staff was wonderful. Everyone we interacted with were helpful, friendly and accomodating. It was a beautiful ryokan with clever spaces. You felt like you had the whole place to yourself.

Fijne plek met als bonus gratis shuttle naar Zao Fix village”
Prettige ryokan. Zeer verzorgd, goed eten, maar beetje formeel van sfeer. Misschien ook omdat niemand goed engels sprak - communicatie moeizaam (al kwam er al snel een handig vertaalapparaatje tevoorschijn). Ryokan ligt erg afgelegen, niets in de buurt. Maar dat kun je ook als voordeel beschouwen. We werden gehaald en gebracht naar station, en in de ochtend kregen we een gratis transport naar Zao Fox Village. Terug met taxi, maar dat was niet zo duur (ong 2.500 yen), omdat we bij het hotel weer werden opgewacht met vervoer naar station.

- Очень хорошее обслуживание, персонал немного говорит по-английски, объясниться можно без проблем. - Номера просторные, приятные и оборудованы всем необходимым. Есть туалет и раковина. - Понравился завтрак (в японском стиле). - Предлагают ежедневный бесплатный трансфер на автобусе со станции Shiroishi (15:00) и Shiroishi-Zao (15:10). Лучше заранее предупредить, что вы воспользуетесь трансфером, можно написать через Агоду. Также ежедневно бесплатно доставляют до деревни лис (9:00), но только в одну сторону, обратно подразумевается на такси или пешком (8км). (в среду деревня лис не работает). - Все реканы на этих источниках расположены рядом. - Есть общие "бани", представляют собой большую ванну с горячей водой из источников и душевые. Одна внутри здания на 2-ом этаже (круглосуточная) вторая на крыше, на открытом воздухе (~6.30 - 21.30). Отдельно для мужчин и женщин. - В лесу, вокруг деревни есть красивые тропинки для прогулок.
