Perfect Location”

Perfect location! It's right next to the Birmingham Oratory, the National Shrine of St. John Henry Newman! And JRR Tolkien stayed here before!

Great location ”

Great hotel for a quick stay in Birmingham. Location was fantastic, the rooms are dated but nice. The breakfast was slightly disorganized but it was what was expected. I would stay there again !

Friendly and helpful staff, although there didn't seem to be enough of them in bar or restaurant. We thought breakfast was open until 9.30 but it was only until 9. We arrived at 8.45 and there were no tables available so we had to wait. Once we were seated there was very little left on the buffet & was not being replenished, so we had to keep asking for things, frustrating for us & the limited staff, everything took so long. 9am is very early if you are on holiday, no chance of a lie in.

The lobby had beautiful deco.We like the English breakfast served at its restaurant.The room was clean and was adequate for two of us.It has a good view from the room.The staff was friendly .

Lovely hotel, really happy with my choice as it was great location, lovely big room and friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Hotel with long tradions, good service and breakfast”

We've stayed for some nights. The first thing we experienced was that our order at Agoda was not fulfilled. We should have a room for two adults and three children, but the hotel does not have this kind of room. Agoda should in the first place not allow such an order. The hotel tried to contact us via Agoda to find a solution, but did not get any help from them. We ended up in a room with a double bed and a sofabed. the room was nice but a bit worn. The hotel was under rehabilitation. In a while the standard vill surely be even better. The breakfast was great but the staff was slow filling the buffet and taking orders. The restaurant had good food.

Wish there was a breakfast included rate, but because there wasn't we just took croissants etc. Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room. Room clean, staff excellent. Special mention to Emma on reception, lovely friendly lady and nothing was too much trouble. Downside , we were in 205 and it was a trek to the room, with loads of stairs, up and down. Not suitable for people who struggle with this. ( unfortunately no lift as its a listed building) . On check in the receptionist offered to help with bags, would take her up on that next time! We were visiting the arena and taxis cost between £5 and £7 depending on the driver. However there is a bus stop on the street about a min walk if that. Number 120 took you to the city and number 9 for the way back. £1.50 for adult £1.20 for child. Make sure you have the right money as they don't give change. We did seem a bit out of the way, but when you consider parking charges in city etc, this hotel is a great option.

Have stayed here several times & will continue to do so. Grounds are lovely, very close to city & they often do various themed nights, ENJOY!!!!

The Plough and Harow has defiantly lost its sparkle all areas showed damage to walls carpets and furniture
