location is very good. the lake view is very nice from the balcony since the building is a little high. we see the new year firework on balcony. the room is large and clean. All the things are prepared. stuff, or maybe owner is very nice. A perfect place to live and stay

The rooms were nice, but somewhat dated. The overall facilities were updated and it was good to have a nice lobby bar and a restaurant when it rained. The location was awesome - great lake views and very short walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Functional hotel”
The location of this hotel was great and our room had a lovely view of the lake. The room itself had what we needed, but seemed like it could use some updating. Not the nicest bedding. Overall it worked and got us close to Milford sound, but it is definitely very basic.

Decent hotel in a small town”
Rooms are big and even the smallest ones can host 4 adults. Location is really good as it's on the lake and only 10 minutes walk to most restaurants in town. The beds and mattresses are a bit old but I have seen the same condition in famous hotels so that's quite common of older hotels. Would recommend this place if you are staying in Te Anau.

Pleasant but not memorable”
Unfortunately, I could not recalled much about this stay only after 2 weeks, which is to say it is not very memorable. Remembered that it was pleasant enough but did not stand out. Cannot even recall how the room looks like now.

Housekeeping was horrible. ”
Cons - room door was opened when we checked in and the vacuum cleaner was right at the door - lights were dim in the room - dressing table top not clean after housekeeping. - room heater not working. Pros - staff acted fast when highlight problem to them

1 night stayover”
We checked in to the hotel very late and left very early to leave for the Mildford Sound. It was a very short stayover thus couldnt provide much comments. However overall was good and clean. Room was big as well. We had a good short night stay.

Very old hotel but great location”
We were pretty disappointed with the brand name of "Distinction" when the hotel itself is so outdated and tired in its condition. The hotel was quite vacant during our check in dates but we were given a room that was all the way to the end of building. The toilet seat was in disgusting condition with rough surface to be sat on. Te Anau is a small town, this hotel is located across Real Journeys centre for activities and minutes of walk to nearby F&B.

Hotel offered me the second floor room which was only accessible by staircase, so we need to take the large luggage and carry it to second floor Very old facility and room Bad ventilation Totally not recommended Very noisy

Old and basic but good location”
It's like stepping back into the 70's or 80's. Don't expect washing or cooking facilities even in the Villa. Just a small fridge and kettle.

Waste of money and undeserving of stars”
Arrived after a long drive with noone at the door, we had to bring and push the trolley to unload our luggage on our own to reception. Check in provided a complimentary upgrade to the same room grade as second night which was nice but room had heater problems eventually solved by bringing in a second heater. Staff mixed up our booking with breakfast and refused my hungry senior parents twice before clearing up the mistake and offering a hot drink to go with our buffet breakfast. Two different staff with mixed messages on cancellation policies as we had to shorten our trip causing unnecessary distress and waste of time. Pool facilities unavailable with no water. Lake view is actually facing the road first and foremost so be prepared for vehicle noises and lorries/ trucks at night. A nice receptionist assisted with alternative itinerary plans. Overall, a very distasteful stay and the worst amongst our hotels booked throughout our new zealand trip. Waste of money.

The room was spacious and facing the Lake Te Anau. Walking distance to CBD and Visitor Center.
