Hotel in a good location”
The Hotel Klaustur is in the center of Kirkjubæjarklaustur and is near a gas station, grocery store, and restaurant. The negative is the room is small and the walls are thin. We were able to easily hear the people in the room throughout the evening; including one of them snoring. Also, the room did not have a refrigerator, and was provided with a single key to the room. Still would recommend it to a friend since there are not many hotels in the area.

Very comfortable and clean hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. Our room had a great view over the flat countryside. Breakfast was plentiful and extensive. The hotel has a slightly upmarket feel. Very good value for money.

Great hotel and staff!”
The breakfast at the hotel was really good and had a surprising amount of variety. There are only two people at the front desk and they help in other parts of the hotel so sometimes you might have to wait 5-10 minutes if they are away. Otherwise they were super friendly. There sadly is no sauna at this hotel, which maybe is not an icelandic thing. If you are traveling from reykjavik to the glacier, would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is the best hotel, or so we’ve been told, in town. The staff is nice, but the facilities are very dated. For instance, the phone and the TV did not work… Not that we really wanted to watch TV. But it didn’t work. And you couldn’t call the front desk to fix it.The breakfast is great. We’ve stayed there twice. We would stay there again, but only after looking for better alternatives

Everything was perfect during our stay. They even have a person monitoring for aurora activity during the night with a complimentary wake up call in the case it’s spotted.

Honeymoon ”
The room is spacious and comes with electric kettle which is a necessity for winter.... the receptionist is very courteous and informative. She gives good advices on driving and aurora watch. The inhouse restaurant not only serves quality food but also high satisfaction in serving customers. My husband and i share a dinner meal set (coz we dont usually have heavy dinner) and the chef is so considerate to split the main course in 2 plates. This really surprised us as we never expect this from a chef in an European country. To us, it is really warm welcoming. I really want to give credit to the staff here.... and will definitely recommend this hotel to my friend who is coming in June. Tq agan for the kind service.
