Child friendly paradise with excellent staff”
My family (husband and toddler) and I stayed here initially for 12 days - everything was so wonderful, the optimal 'luxury fantasy home away from home', that we extended our stay in Muscat, went away for a night in the desert, and instead of choosing a new hotel to try out came straight back to the Intercontinental. The facilities: the pool may not be as glamorous as the W next door, but it's far more interesting and child friendly, with quiet nooks and paths you can float around. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and modern, without being cliche or over the top. Even the lighting isn't offensive or glaring. Just soft, classic, beautiful design. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. The beach may not be 'private' but it was so quiet, it seemed like it. Very convenient to run from the pool to visit the beach and back again. It was also stellar in terms of cleanliness and amenities. The staff: the thing that really made this hotel stand out, internationally speaking, were the staff. Incredibly friendly, relatable, well spoken - I've never encountered such relentlessly lovely staff in all the hotels I've ever stayed in across Asia and Europe. They went above and beyond every time, remembering us, saying hello, making conversation, giving advice... Long story short - stay here! We checked out many other 5* hotels across the city and even though we were willing to spend more, none could beat this one.

Great hotel in a quite beach area”
Great hotel super clean with friendly helpful staff all around. There is a special swimming pool for kids as well as 2 other pools for adults and a lill kids playground with private access to Qurum beach.

The hotel staff were very friendly and ready to assist on customer's needs. Their pandemic protocol was excellent as well, making sure for the guest to feel safe at the environement. The hotel room was clean and santized. They also have a nespresso coffee machine, but with different capsule brand. The breakfast was Continental menu with Arabic dishes. If you fancy different cuisine, they also have Italian and Japanese restaurants. It has an access in the public beach. Very nice to jog or walk during sunrise/sunset. I recommend going in the morning as it is less crowded. Overall experience was great.

Probably not a 5 star hotel, because a complete wing was being refurbished. Breakfast area outside was a bit grubby. Room was fine but was supposed to be a Mountain View room. No mountains, and overlooked acarpark and building site. Pool area very good, with sun on it all day (not all hotels in the area can boast that!) We were given a small coolbox with bottles of water in by the pool every day. Ideal location for Opera House and shopping mall. Gated exit onto the beach. Nobody seemed to sunbathe there though, and we found dead fish and stingrays aplenty.

The room was beautifully renovated. The pool was nice to lounge by and would be great with kids or if you were staying exclusively here for a holiday. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would suggest going off the resort for dinner as we were disappointed but the dinner. We also didn’t like that there was a huge wall separating the pool from the beach, takes away from staying at a beachfront resort. All in all, it was okay, but I would suggest staying at Muscat Beach Hills Resort if you’re looking for a beach vacay, or at the Grand Hyatt if you want to be in Muscat with great pools and beach access. We did appreciate that this hotel allowed us an early checkin at 10am after a red eye flight. And I would recommend going to the Irish Pub for nightlife even if you don’t stay here.
