So many nice surprises in the Mercury room. Comfortable beds. Clean facilities. Great outdoor bath. An absolute gem to find when you’re going to be out and about in Zanzibar. Service was excellent and we paid for an extra night just because. We will definitely be coming back! Again and again.

Guys, having looked at places much more expensive to this one, we booked this place.. However to my surprise the LOCATION, STAFF, BREAKFAST, CLEANLINESS, OLD HERITAGE DECOR and FEEL, VALUE FOR MONEY, STAFF SUPPORT.. I would rate the experience 10/10 for our stay at this property... No point staying at the beach which is ugly crowded, this place is literally two mins walk away.. Better than other locations.. 1 min away from Freddy Mercury Museum.. All curio shops and everything else follows.. Highly RECOMMENDED!

Beautiful Hotel”
Jafferji Hotel and Spa is architecturally beautiful, almost a monument considering it is a merchant house that is over 100 years old. The walls are made of thick stone, the hotel is located smack in the middle of stonetown. Walking to prison island ferry, and the night market were a stones throw away. The only issue with the hotel is that the WiFi/Mobile Internet is very poor because of the stone walls, we didn't get a lot of network in the room. Also the toilet had a constant sewage smell towards the evenings - but I should say that this smell didn't travel to where we were sleeping so it wasn't such a big issue. The staff at the hotel are amazing, very sweet, and friendly. The breakfast option is very limited, however, considering the low price of the hotel it is justified. I would still recommend this place because of it's excellent location. I also want to add that Stonetown is an extremely safe place to travel for women as the entire city is covered with surveillance cameras. The people of Zanzibar are also super friendly and helpful when it comes to getting directions along it's winding streets

We stayed here two nights in a signature suite (Livingstone room) and were slightly underwhelmed after great reviews left us with high expectations. The building itself has a very unique layout, in a great location, and a brilliant view of the water on the terrace, but we felt on a whole it didn't live up to our high expectations. The room smelled and felt musty, and the corner where the toilet was smelled like pee for the duration of our stay, despite leaving the fans on all day. In a room that has no door (or wall really) to separate the sleeping area from the bathroom, we found this to be a major factor in our enjoyment of the place. Adding to that, the wifi only worked on the terrace and our bed was very short (uncomfortably short for me at 183 cm (6'). Perhaps if we had a different room it would have been a better stay, after all, the hotel itself is a visually unique place.

Breakfast is very basic, the hotel itself is beautiful. Very early Checkout- Time (10am), and strict on that.

wifi - more than 2 device cost 1 dollar each so NO FREE WIFI In the room impossible to get the wifi after 23:30 no front desk service Security does not speak 1 single word of english CHECK IN strict AFTER 14:00 h or extra pay CHECK OUT strict 10:00 am NO FLEXIBILITY .. Stuff is friendly but management is really poor.. half hour later check out with funniiiiiiie stories to my family REJECTED

The hotel itself is very pretty and well located. Very nice breakfast on rooftop terrace with great view. The room (Stanley) however was awful since it practically has no windows, ventilation bad, bed uncomfortable. Maybe the other rooms are nicer, can only judge the Stanley room. Overall it’s a very pretty authentic hotel though

The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside, with interesting décor. The room was very large and spacious, and the bed really comfortable. Unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the street at night, with drums playing (presumably for Ramadan) after midnight every night. The rooms only had a quick clean every day, and there was a very bad smell from the drain in the bathroom. The staff was friendly, but not very knowledgeable about the area. The location is central and walking distances to everything worth seeing in Stone Town.

The staff was quite cooperative, but it’s on the narrow streets and can’t access by car, the building was quite old that’s why it’s washrooms are smell a lot.

Good location but needs renovation”
The lobby and the other facilities are fine, but the room needs renovation, especially the bathroom. It had a weird smell and the toilet flush broke during our stay, but it was promptly fixed. Most of the staff was nice and try to be helpful, but they are not really. If you ask them a question about a landmark and how to get there, it’s inpressive that they are able to point the wrong direction, but oh well, that happens all around in Zanzibar. At the breakfast, the waiter was nice, but couldn’t understand simple questions in English.

Interesting Decor”
The hotel is located on a small street in Stone Town that is not accessible by car so it is necessary to carry luggage through the streets. The hotel and Our room was abundantly decorated with interestingb art and artifacts , but was a bit run down, especially the bathroom. Good location. The breakfast was good, and there was a variety of menu items. The main problem is that part of one afternoon there was no water. None. We were meeting friends for dinner, needed to shower, clean up, brush your teeth… But was told 10 minutes…it was a very long” 10 minutes” .Finally the water was restored

The most beautiful boutique hotel in Stone Town”
Location, decoration, details - the details!!! Friendly and helpfull staff. Beautiful rooms - a dream. Staying in Jafferji is trabelling back in time and leaving like a princess - or a sultan. Tha magic is in every small detail - even the public toilet is beautiful. Only less: breakfast could be a bit more abundant, but is already delicious.
