Hidden Gem deep within Nara's mountain”
Fantastic hotel that's been recently renovated, great decor / staff / rooms / open-air baths and serene environment overall. A great get away for me and family, especially coupled with the Nara prefecture promotion it makes this even more value for money

Fantastiskt”
The hotel is located in a remote area. Staff are attentive and helpful. Food is perfect. Very delicious Japanese cuisine with artistic presentation. Yet, it's a bit strange that the room with a private onsen is not equipped with a shower which means guests have to go to the public bath first (to clean up yourselves) before enjoying the onsen.

Superb View”
The room has a very good view. Combination of the hills and neighbourhood. However, was quite disappointed with the onsen public bath. The make-up area is nice but the onsen area gave a very cold feeling and with only one pool. Should change to make it more welcoming. Perhaps the selling point of this hotel is on the in-room spa pool and guest of other rooms are neglected.

This is one of the most underrated ryokans. It’s rather out of the way, needing about 1.5-2 hours from Kyoto. You need to take a taxi from the nearest JR train station (Oji) too. However, this also means that you will be totally away from crowds and the noise of the cities. You will be rewarded with spectacular views of Shigisan and the nearby ancient temples pearched in the mountains. The room we had came with a panoramic view of the mountains. You could just sit at the balcony and enjoy the views the entire day! Service was excellent and the staff were warm hosts. Remember to get the Kaiseki dinner and traditional breakfast with the room. Of the many ryokans I have stayed over the years, the food here rank amongst the best I have eaten. Great for recharging the body, soul and mind.

Amazing Morning”
The staff was perfect, and was helpful from the moment we arrived to the time we departed. We woke up before the sun rise and readied our balcony bath. After the sun had risen we could hear the praying of buddists echo through the valley. Our dinner and breakfast were traditionally Japanese and filled with wonderful flavors. Love the region, the town, the people. It was beautiful, thank you for providing a place like this.

Off the tourist beaten path...”
This is a good value for the money. I paid about $350 more last year at a different roykan for a similar experience. What is seriously OVERLOOKED by the owners of this roykan and most of its visitors is the amazing temple built in 1400 just up the road. It's a bit of a hike. I think the roykan should offer rides up the hill to this big temple and connect itself as much as possible to make this a destination. This is all off the heavy tourist areas and a real back roads Japan area– I highly recommend staying here and asking for access (a ride) to the temple up the road. They may want you to call a taxi but it's worth pushing them to recognize the amazing temple the roykan can benefit from being so close to.

Coming from Kyoto proper, it took us 2 hours to get here. The location took a while to get to but it was worth all the hassle because of the beautiful view from the balcony. We got a traditional room with an open air bath which was the best thing about our stay. The staff were very pleasant to deal with specially when we were served our meals. I recommend this place. Just make sure you’re alright with the location.

I stayed here to celebrate my 30th birthday and wedding for one night at the end of a two week trip to Japan and it was the PERFECT experience! We splurged and stayed in a Japanese style room with private bath and I can not tell you how amazing it was... the room was beautiful, clean, spacious, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely, highly recommend this Ryokan for a beautiful and unique experience. Also, the Chogosonshi-ji Temple is only a 10 minute walk away and was by the favorite of the (many)temples we visited during our trip.

Cosy tucked away Ryokan in the hills of Nara”
Overall a great experience. Staff were wonderful in spite of the language barrier. Dinner and breakfast were great. Rooms were kept in immaculate condition; our hot tub on the balcony was awesome. In contrast, the lobby felt in real need of an upgrade. Faded pink carpet and 70's decor! Liked the modern English jazz ambient music, but it didnt match the concept of a Japanese ryokan. Still a great experience on the whole

Off the Beaten Track”
It was a very good experience. The first room we stayed in smelled of cigarettes. We were moved immediately to another room. The location is super quaint and the walk to the shrine is beautiful. You even pass a huge river with a vermillion bridge for vehicles and another one for pedestrians. This place is not often visited by tourists but there were quite a few local tourists and pilgrims. If I had time I would have hiked around the foothills. Very pretty place.

Super expérience! Ça chance des hôtels. Très authentique. Il est situé à 15 min en taxi d’une gare (Oiji) Je conseille de dîner sur place et de prendre le dîner kaiseki. Le personnel ne parle pas beaucoup anglais. Cependant ils sont très serviables et pleins de bonne volonté. A recommander!

今回ファミリアタイプの和室家族６人で滞在したのですが、思っていた以上に広々としていて、外観の趣とはまた違って館内リフォームされていて、とても素敵でした！食事処も、各個室で、料理が長期夕食だけでなく朝食もとても素晴らしかったです。 次は祖母を連れてきてあげたいと思います！
