An excellent breakfast plus an amazing staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Facilities are clean and there’s a good sign of Wi-Fi. Nothing to complain.

Location: Very close walking distance to the metro station, Copacabana beach (Posto 8). Lots of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Very safe location. Breakfast: Delicious with a variety of options. Pool/rooftop patio: Very spacious and nice place to have a drink in the evenings. Rooms: The rooms are a bit outdated, but comfortable. Spotted a cockroach on the curtains on my last night. Wifi: Terrible in room 401. Had to sit at the edge of the bed to get a slow signal, but got better as I stood by the entrance door to the room.

I had a short stay and most of it was worth it except for the gym facilitates, (not in so good shape and very few options available for anyone that would enjoy a good workout session) but all in all the place is nice, it took a much rather long time for the staff to resolve some issues about the beddings of one of the people in my group. The breakfast though, it’s amazing

Don’t book the classic room because it too small. Had to change room twice because the internet was inconsistent. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was also good. Still a good value for the money.

Excellent position , very helpful staff . The day we checked out our flight wasn’t until 22.00 but you can pay by the hour to stay , a great help .

Booked 7 months prior to Rio Carnaval and paid $300 per night. Given a room on the 3rd floor by the elevator. No view and sounded like an airplane going over us every time the elevator used. Smell of sewerage wafting through every now and then. They had 2 single beds pushed together...very uncomfortable. Disappointed after paying so much and booking so far in advance.

The location of the hotel is very convenient, only two blocks from Copacabana beach. The personel was ok but the fact that only one person spoke really good English was a bit of a shock to me. I was expecting more from a 4 star hotel. The room was spacious enough. The bathroom clean, however, a bit dated and you could see signs of wear. The restaurant was nice with good food and prices. The swimming pool was spectacular and served very nicely after days full of sightseeing. All in all, it is a nice hotel but overpriced for what you actually get.

My Business Stay”
My stay was only for 4nights, I was in room 306. The first night my room was quite warm so i turned the air con on to cool the room down, after about an hour i could hear water dripping. On checking this out the dripping was coming through the light fitting above the fridge. This was reported to reception but nothing was done about it. I had to use the waste bin from my bathroom to collect the water.

For the price, Royal Rio was quite a good hotel. The location was great - about a 3- or 4min walk to the beach and close to restaurants, bars, launry facility and a supermarket. Clean and spacious rooms and staff were helpful most of the time. There was a huge variety of choice at breakfast and they were flexible with timing. The pool was located on the rooftop and, despite being small, it was clean and modern and had a nice atmosphere.

Good experience. Service is a bit "confused" and seems a bit busy and disorganised when there's only a few customers around, but they're helpful and their English is good enough. The breakfast lounge offers a great selection, and the rooms are spacious and good. I saw that this hotel is rated "8" and I'd agree with that, though I'd give it a 7.8 myself (because of the general ambiance).
