Amazing stay at ryokan seiryu”
Very friendly personal, perfect location, it is only walking distance to the old city. Room was comfortable, great onsen especially that they have 5 different types! Dinner and breakfast were also excellent!

We booked a room only and are very happy. The room is perhaps a little small by Western standards but when in Japan... Certainly a good opportunity to stay in a more traditional inn. The onsen downstairs is tiny, the advantage being you will probably have it to yourself. You can use the sister hotel onsen nearby on the rooftop which is great except the pools were fairly disgusting by Japanese standards

that was our first time at traditional ryokan of Japan. it's pretty big but the room was small than I expected. but all the crews are kind and gentle. full step dinner called 'Kaiseki' was perfect, too. also we enjoyed sister hotel's rooftop Onsen. it's not far from Ryokan seiryu. and the town was calm at night time but vividly fulled with little crowd at day time.

Good location and great staff”
We drove to the ryokan and they provide valet service and free parking. The spa was really small, probably only for 2 people at any one time, however, the spa at their sister hotel alpina was one of the best I have encountered in Kyoto hotels! Ths staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are abit small and it is cramp and hard to move about in the room in the evenings and mornings after the futons are laid. the hallway and the room has very strong smell of bbq food, which is minus since it makes it uncomfortable to sleep in, maybe hotel should make it a point to air and remove smells from the rooms and hallways

Great Ryokan experience ”
Ryokan Seiryu is nearby to the Takayama train station, just a short 10 min walk or so. The ryokan has a traditional look and feel, with great service from their staff. The all inclusive meal plan was excellent. Takayama is known for its Hida beef so be assured you’ll get plenty of that during breakfast and dinner. The onsen is small but sufficient. The bus station to Shirakawa-go (unesco heritage) is nearby and within an hour plus or so bus ride, you’ll be amazed with the beautiful sight of the village. We truly enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Seiryu. Great service and wonderful food. Highly recommended.

Nice ryokan stay with kaiseiki experience ”
The ryokan is very near to the Morning Market and Preservation Areas. It is within 8 mins walk from the Takayama train station. The staff are very hospitable. It has a small cosy onsen which is nice. We can also use the onsens in their sister hotel nearby. The basic kaiseiki meal with Hida beef and the morning Japanese breakfast are very yummy. It is ab experience to stay in a ryokan. ありがとうございます、

What's not to like?”
In Hirayu Onsen, this seems like a great place. Very friendly family staff with dinner and breakfast options in a wonderful small onsen town. It's not a place that you will want to just tour around for more than a day, but if you want a base for wonderful day trips with hiking, this is a great location.

this ryokan is very near to bus station, easy to find and easy to walk to attractive place. the staffs were very kind and helpful as normal Japanese people:) . the onsen is small but has everything inside. the good thing was there provided a very impressive dinner for us. about the room, it's a bit small but ok. overall we're in love in Japan.

Tiny old ryokan ”
About 10 min walk from Takayama JR station to destination. Place is old and beaten. Location is ok but Onsen is pretty small. Had to walk another 10 Min to Hotel Alpina to supposedly enjoy a better environment Onsen but it was indeed no big deal. The hida beef dinner was so so. The room design was very old school Japanese style. The overall sense was not relaxing or good.

First Ryokan”
This was our first stay at a Ryokan. The size of the room was much better than I expected. Yes, most of the area will be used for the beds in the evening, but compared to room sizes in Tokyo, these are much more spacious. The staff all spoke good English and extremely helpful and nice. The Hotel also feels so much safer with so much staff constantly at the Hotel preparing meals and making beds. We made use of the onsen access to their partner hotel and used that instead of the one at Ryokan Seiryu which were great.

The service of the hotel is excellent. There is a hot spring in Ryokan Seiryu, but you can also enjoy the hot spring facilities at the Alpina hotel. The room is a Japanese style room and it is quite big. The booking also included a dinner and the food are delicious. The location are not difficult to be find, you can arrive there from the JR station at around 10-minutes. It gave me an excellent experience in Takayama.

Good Ryokan”
Stayed there for a couple of nights as a family of 5 (kids aged 9,11,13). Good quiet location and nice coffee-lounge area downstairs. Breakfast was very good too and staff very helpful indeed! Many restaurant around the area so easy to go out in the evening.

Good Service and Comfortable stay”
You have to remove your shoes once you enter the hotel. Staff will wipe all your luggage wheels to ensure cleanliness of the carpet. Food is awesome. Breakfast was good too. Near to many places of interest.

Onsen Headache”
I was in the onsen with a parent and a kid. The kid looked like she is about 4-6 years old and when the parent put her into the hot tub, she was screaming loudly. I think hotel should restrict parent bringing in kids that are too young for onsen.

Good service, established hotel, very clean”
Though it's an old establishment, it's very clean and well maintained. About 10 mins to Takayama train/bus station. Stayed here for 2 nights and took day trip to Shirakawa-go. In the mornings and evenings, the staff would help us to keep/lay the futons on the mat. Very professional staff with excellent service. Unfortunately, futons were quite thin so it was quite hard to sleep on. Quilts were very comfortable and fluffy. Walls were thin so we could hear our neighbour's conversations. Onsen was available in hotel for free but didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, Quite an interesting experience. Convenient store was 1 min's walk away. Rubber boots were available for guests so it helped a lot when walking on ice. Shops during winter closed at 5pm. Heaters worked very well and room was nice and cosy during winter/snowy weather.
