Warm cheerful host and nice coffee made our day. Nice Japanese style room, clean toilets (tho the shared bathroom is down stair). A lot of convenient stores and restaurants around the neighborhood. Seibu line 2 mins walk but metro 20 mins. Anyway it is also very safe to walk in the neighborhood.

The place is fantastic, very clean and quiet during the night. Our host made us feel at home. You get a delicious morning coffee! there is also tea and coffee for free during the day. The hostel is not directly situated at Ikebukuro Station but the location feels like a small town in Tokyo, and it's absolute pleasure. The staff was really adorable and we thank them so much for the warm welcome!

A glimpse of local neighbourhood in Tokyo ”

It’s a quiet corner near Ikebukuro, and I didn’t expect I will have such a pleasant stay for a night after a few days adventure around the busy city. Will recommend for backpack travellers since you will feel a bit clumpsy to carry your big luggage to this tiny hostel. I have received help from the cafe staff there for an earlier check in. Looks like they would prefer a later check in (as suggested on hostel page). But there is no problem at all. You will be welcomed by friendly staff or locals.

The good: - Lovely, quieter neighbourhood, one station from Ikebukuro. Close to station. - Friendly, helpful staff. - Free coffee each morning. The not-so-good: - On two nights of our five night stay we had trouble sleeping due to noise from other guests and thin walls. - Uncomfortable pillows.

We really enjoyed our stay at the guesthouse. The location was easy to find, just a 5-10mins walk from shiinamachi station. A quiet location with convenience stores, supermarket and restaurants nearby. It was our first time in Japan, and I would like to sincerely thank Mr Yutano Tamaoke and his colleagues for the warm welcome even though we arrived late and only stayed for a night. They were very friendly and kind, and Yutano was especially nice to offer his help when we had queries regarding our visit to Hakone. He took effort to find the information online and printed out the transportation route and places to visit; carefully and patiently explaining them to us even though it was already late at 11pm. The room was really clean, neat and cosy. I highly recommend this place to all.

Great guesthouse to explore more about Tokyo”

The guesthouse located in west Toshima, which is a community with at least three sentos and some local restaurants including yummy local udon. Although it is convenient to reach Shinjuku by bus and Ikebukuro by train, staying here is a great opportunity to explore more about Tokyo, besides the popular facts. Even though there are no laundry facilities, you can get your clothes washed in the opposite of the guesthouse and the next. The common lounge is comfortable and you will have a chance to meet people including the staff. One of the staff is good at English while others can speak simple one, but all of them are helpful and friendly. Do feel free to ask them questions about the guesthouse and the surrounding. Do recommend staying here especially for those who wanna experience different Tokyo!

Staying at Sheena and Ippei was an absolute treat! The building itself is incredibly cute, the cafe space is cozy and the staff is incredible. Shota-san and Sachiko-san made me feel like I was home halfway across the world. The town itself is quiet but is just 1 train stop away from Ikebukuro, giving you the best of both worlds. I stayed in the dorm style room and it was comfortable and warm. There is a curtain to close off your bunk for privacy and the bedding was very cozy. I would love to come back next time I’m in Japan. Highly recommended!

Spacious shower room, the first I encountered in Tokyo. Bed was comfy. Living area was cosy. Free self-service pantry was fab. Near to station, away from Ikebukuro crowd.

We stayed in a Japanese style room wich was beautiful. The neighborhood is relatively silent (which we appreciate) and it has a big supermarket, multiple restaurants and it is close to Ikebukuro. All facilities were amazingly clean and the the host was very friendly, accomodating and he explained a lot and gave us recommendations.

The staff were warm and welcoming from the start, and offered a fresh cup of coffee every morning. One of the days of my stay, my phone broke and I was without internet so they lent me their laptop to figure out directions and my schedule. Everything was clean and other guests were quiet and polite. The neighborhood is a quiet residential area, about 20-30 min walk to Ikebukuro station, so if you like walking around and getting a feel for local culture, you’ll love this place.

this hotel is very comfortable and memorable for me. the staff is very nice, they will provide free coffee for us every morning. the location of this hotel is very too, it is next to the train station and easy to go to other places. there are also many 24hours stores and restaurant next to the hotel, it is very nice for me. but this hotel does not provide the free room clear services and change the towels, it may cost some inconvenient. if it can provide the free room clear services and change the towels for free, it will become perfect. but it is very good overall, and I would choose this hotel if i go to tokyo again.

Nice cosy guesthouse in familiar mood”

We stayed with our little baby girl for a whole week. Unfortunately the big room was not available so we had to book the smaller one which was definitely really tight for 2 adults, a baby and lots of luggage. I was also a bit disappointed since I accepted it to be as nice as the other one in a beautiful Japanese style but unfortunately it was much more basic but not much cheaper at all. We even had to pay if we wanted fresh towels which we found out by accident. Above all the location was quite nice and calm and the staff really nice and helpful. We would totally stay there again, but would book for sure the other room we wanted in the first place.

Booked here mainly bcos many reviewed it as "good warm helpful host" or " beautiful quaint place". This place is definitely clean. Location is about 4 km from Shinjuku. Accessed via a private local train line to reach JR & Metro Lines. Within 800 meters radius of guesthouse, there is nothing to do. So this means if you love peace & quiet, this is the place for you. No decent cafe or restaurant. But if you love vibrant colourful part of a metro/city and easily accessible within walking distance, I would not stay here. Train lines usually ends by midnight, and you'll need to take the taxi often. I might as well pay more and stay within Shinjuku. After late dinner and drinks, I can just walk back, very safe. Apologies, I never felt welcomed at this place. The staff would be so polite, too polite. There was no genuine care to engage me on how my stay or tour has been. Beyond "hi, how are you, good day to you", there was nothing. No eye contact. I have no more space to explain further.
