Great food, wonderful baths and shuttle service”
We arrived at Yamayuri on the public bus after spending a long hard day walking the Kumano Kodo. The public bus stop is just outside the hotel, which made things extremely convenient. There are private baths available for free! We headed there right after arrival to wash up and soak away the tiredness of the day, then sat down to a wonderful dinner in the dining room. The communal baths where we went after dinner were even better! Huge pools of differing temperatures, so there is bound to be a bath at a temperature you prefer. After a wonderful breakfast, we hopped on the hotel shuttle to Hoshinmon-Oji to start our next walk. Service was impeccable!

Very big open-air onzen and also provide private onzen for groups and family. Friendly staff and the pick-up shuttle bus service is very convenient to go around. Although the price is a little bit high and it is an out-of-the way location, we enjoy the peaceful moment before Typhoon.

One of the best onsen ”
Great private onsen after Komano Kodo trek. A bit out of the way from Hongu temple but they provide a free shuttle. This area is one of the most beautiful in Japan. Definitely go for the dinner and breakfast.

Good family bath for the whole family”
one thing good about this place is the outdoor family bath where you can enjoy ur onsen together with the family members especially with children, but in the family bath you have to bring your own toiletries, not like the public bath that normally will prepare the basic toiletries. The public bath is good, and unique experience where you get to enjoy the largest outdoor onsen in west japan. The food is ok, the usual japanese food with not much surprises, but with a touch of fusion. The downside is the tatami is not comfortable. The mattress is too thin, so the same for the pillows. We had back and neck ache in the next morning.

Great onsen experience”
This was my first time staying in an onsen and based on my limited familiarity, this place was a great example of a medium-size hotel-style onsen. The room had a beautiful view across the river; the meals were many delicious small dishes served by a kind staff, and the onsen bath (I chose to use a private bath/pool area) was excellent. It was a relaxing and unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it if you are in Wakayama/Kumano Kodo area.

They have private onsens that guests can use for free. The onsens are beautiful and big. Staff are very friendly and go the extra miles to help out my suitcase in the room while I was only expecting storage as I arrived too early to check in. This is the kind of ‘exceptions’ Japanese service I expected. Food is also good and even the ladies in the dining room, who spoke limited English, are trying hard to make sure I am well looked after. Will definitely go back and highly recommended.

家族風呂が四つあるので、待つことなく入れた。 大浴場の露天風呂は広々としており、かなりゆったりと入ることができた。

食事がとてもまずい 接客もひどい”
隣の老夫婦もかなり厳しい顔をしていた。夕飯がまずい、１８：００からの夕食が１時間前には配膳されていた。特に刺身は乾燥していて食べれたものではない。メニューもおそらく改善などを全く考えていないワンパターン。ここは泊まるべきではない。席についても、誰も挨拶しないし、飲み物も注文いこない。渡瀬温泉とはここのホテル群の為に勝手につけた名、隣の川湯に行くべき。
