the bus for shiratani unsuikyo just stops in front of the hotel. Staffs are very friendly. Dinner and breakfast are standard.

We chose this hotel as they were saying river view, yes there is a small river flowing but not very scenic or fantastic. The rooms very very old and run down and need repair works. The hotel helped to provide vegetarian dinner but it was very basic not like the vegetarian keiseki dinner I had in other places. During the first nite dinner, the place was very noisy due to some gathering going on next to our dinner room. Most noisy dinner I ever had in japan. Onsen was a put off as the water was not very clean and had dust and hair in the water. Sure I won’t be staying here if I go back to Yakushima The plus point is the hotel staff are very friendly.

Nice ryokan with river view”
Tashiro Annex is a bit far from Miyanoura port but it is walkable distance about 15-20mins walk. I arrived Yakushima in the early morning. I went to the Tashiro Annex to drop off our luggages first before go hiking. A bus stop is just right in front of the hotel, it is a perfect time to catch up the bus to Shiratani Usuikyo. After hiking and going back to the hotel, the staff told us, our room was ready and our luggages was taken to our rooms. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. I stayed two nights there, rooms are typical Japanese Ryokan style with tatami. The room is clean and big. The hotel has public hot bath and a sanar room, it is good

Value for money ryokan stay”
This is a nice ryokan, with river scenery. The meals are of add on charges, but of great quality. If you're not staying in any ryokan but deciding if you should for this hotel, book this! The rooms are not new, but it's clean. Futons are also comfortable, so don't worry about sleeping on a hard floor. There are also indoor hotsprings separately for men/women, shoe dryer (perfect as Yakushima rains alot), rental for hiking gear/bicycle. There is a bus stop just outside of the hotel, which makes it easy to commute (being that there's only 3 times a day that the bus goes on the route, so you definitely cannot miss your bus). It's about 15-20 mins walk from the port. There are quite a few restaurants to dine in for dinner nearby.

Nice old school hotel in Yakushima ”
We had a nice time at Tashiro Ryokan, the whole place has this old school charm but that's the case for most of the places in Yakushima which we pretty like. Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoy coming back to a hot onsen bath at the end of the day.

Good Hotel”
Very pleasant stay. It is a walk-able distance from the port although I hired a car (free parking) which is kind of essential on the island to get to see all of the very special places easily (some cannot be accessed by the buses). I stayed in the Annex which is separate from the main hotel building. It is by the road but its still very quiet especially on the upper floor. It was a tatami room with futons (comfortable) and staff will come around dinner time to prepare them for you. The hotel building is about 20 meters away. The hotel has a restaurant and sento (not onsen). The main hotel building is where the rooms are which have river views but of course are more expensive. There is a supermarket very close by and you can buy your omiyage (souvenirs) there cheaper than elsewhere.

Excellent service, wonderful stay ”
located just by the crystal clear river, this traditional japanese hotel gives you the serenity you need on escaping the city. 20mins on foot from the ferry port. 5 mins away from local supermarkets and great choices of restaurant. The bus stop is also right outside the hotel. Making it surprisingly convenient even without a car. The staff are friendly and helpful though not good in english. The facilities are old, but it's cosy and suits the feeling of the whole surrounding. Plus, the sensitive service just make up for any defects on hardware. I would definitely go there again in the summer

The breakfast and dinner were very good. Staff in simple English. Hotel was clean and comfortable. There was too far from ferry pier to hotel, but you can drive by yourself. Car park just next to hotel. I suggest it.

I booked a room with 2 meals. The dinner they prepared were excellent. On the last day, they were nice enough to arrange a shuttle bus just for the 2 of us to the ferry pier. I was having fun in there!

I had a great stay. The thing I hadn't expected was how dark it gets at night. I only had one night on the island, but it was quiet and dark enough to refresh me. The innkeepers had a nice book selection (林芙美子、地元の環境) and helped me find a lost item. BTW, they rent hiking supplies if you're into that kind of thing. I saw a lot of people get up early to head out hiking with box lunches...

It is far from the pier, but the bus station just in front of the hotel. and there is a supermarket nearby, around 5-10mins walk. the weak point is that the staff not good at English and difficult to communicate.

Breakfast is prepared individually. Staff are very helpful whenever we need help with the directions. Though it is walkable from the nearest port, it is more convenient to have a car. Overall stay is super.
