A great deal”
This was excellent value for money. The room was cleaned each day, the location was great and we even got a cooked breakfast included in the room rate. I'd definitely stay there again. Just be aware that there's a disco at the weekend, so that would be the only possible flaw for some.

Right in the middle of Salisbury, very friendly staff. Better suited to individuals and couples and families as it’s part of a pub. Love the old building full of character and the free breakfast was great, choice of cooked breakfast

Just one night is ok…”
Staffs are definitely friendly and helpful, However the room condition need to be improved. Also, at night the street noises from the bar might be annoying. The best things are the location, staffs and wifi. Btw, the breakfast including in the rate is decent.

Hotel needs carpets cleaned throughout; silly things like lightbulbs need replacing without prompting; lift & communal areas grubby; actual room & bed/bathroom clean (except carpet). Breakfast really good.

Very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean room. Tea and coffee in the room but no crockery or kettle! No remote for the television. The choice of cereal for breakfast was Rice Krispies or Rice Krispies! Excellent full English breakfast but no pastries or fruit. During breakfast manager and staff member were having an argument in front of the guests.

Good location but very poor for the money! On arrival they had us booked for the wrong date and was not expecting us, good job I had my print out! Decor a mess inside, door closure hitting the wall causing damage. Toilet handle I had to reassemble as the end nut was on the floor! Hardly any room to use the toilet as very cramped.Ceiling fan didnt work, no tv remote, windows had secondary cheap glazing as old windows do not work and rotting away! Hotel very busy Saturday night and open til 3 am so loads of kids queuing outside making a racket! Not the cleanest could do with a good update, not cheap for shabby hotel.

The boiler was broken so no hot water. Not a hint of apology from staff (‘these things happen’), or indeed prior warning at check in. Room clean enough but stair carpet on landings really very dirty indeed and in need of a rug doctor hire. Breakfast ok but only a cooked option: no hint of cereal or anything healthy/fresh. Definitely not going to book to stay again!

Disappointing ”
Had a room with private bathroom. The bathroom was unlocked and had clearly been used and not cleaned before I checked in. The bathroom light didn’t work- receptionist said there was nothing she could do about it. Shower was also pretty grim. Breakfast options were very limited. Expected noise from downstairs late night bar but room windows would not close so noise was extremely loud. Windows were too rusty to close

Worst hotel stay I've ever had”
I didn't expect it to be amazing because of the cheap price. But I never expected the bedrooms to be as bad as they was. Door handles falling off, lock broken, dirty shower, bed was like sleeping in a pot hole. The crater in the mattress was so deep it was the most uncomfortable sleep I've ever had. There is more but I will leave it there. Couldn't wait to leave

Shocking! Avoid”
Save yourself from this house of horrors! They really ought to undergo a full inspection of their hospitality standards as clearly absolutely no maintenance is carried out on this building. We moved rooms FOUR times before we were able to actually settle down - and we are far from picky! We experienced completely broken windows, broken toilet flushes, shower screen, safe, door locks, faulty fire doors... the list goes on. There are evidently problems with damp and leaks in the building too. Don't compromise on safety - nor even the most basic comforts. This place is cheap and actually pretty well located - the breakfast was also pretty fine too (and free). But do not expect a comfortable stay if you choose to take your chances with it.

Disgusting”
The whole room was absolutely filthy. The mattress and the duvet were full of brown sweat stains. The windows had so much filth round them, it should be condemned. No hot water, so couldn't shower. Probably why the bed was stinking with sweaty people. Breakfast was an abomination. I paid for two nights but had to leave after one. Could face another night there. I would like a refund for one night. I have given 1 rating in everything because there was no lower score.

The room was filthy. We found tissue and plastic from a wrapped shirt on the floor - obviously not hoovered. Bath too dirty to use. Disco till 1.00 am vibrated the whole room but worse than this was the loud group singing until 1.30 am in the courtyard. No chance of sleep until after that. Breakfast - dirty mugs and cutlery, no spoons, no hot water for tea, no fresh coffee and cold breakfast

Exceptional”
My parents stayed one Saturday night. Although the bar was noisy when we came in at night, their room was on the top floor at the back and very quiet. The staff were very helpful and friendly, good choice at breakfast, and the hotel itself is very handsome, very well located and very interesting (we enjoyed all the Salisbury pictures in the breakfast room and the back outside area in the morning). The only 4 star review was because of the lift. It took a VERY long time to arrive and a couple times we were sure it had shut down while we were waiting. But once we realised it was just slow, all was well. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly staff and a central location ”
Unfortunately, we stayed in Salisbury during an atypical extended heatwave and found the room uncomfortably hot at night. Should such extreme weather become more frequent, perhaps the hotel will need to consider better insulation or even air-conditioning the worst affected rooms. Still, the friendliness of staff and amenities at the hotel in general went a long way towards improving our spirits. In less extreme weather, we would certainly see this hotel as our first choice for a future visit.
