Rooms were outside and up steps, which I hadn't expected. But they were spotless and we were offered an umbrella and help with our bags.

Food excellent. Room lovely. Comfy bed and hot,powerful shower. Room and pub/restaurant we're warm and cosy. Always nice to have an open fire on the go. Staff were lovely too

Beautiful hotel and restaurant and amazing staff make this hotel a hidden gem”

The staff were amazing; very friendly and attentive. The manager was very helpful in sorting out a mix up with our booking and offering a solution. The place is quintessential lake district with roaring fires and beautiful cosy surroundings. The hotel and restaurant were immaculate, and the food was lovely. We will definitely return in the future. I would have given a 10 out of 10 if it wasn't for the mix up.
There was a mix up with our booking, which meant we did not get the superior large family room we had booked and paid for. The hotel was full so we ended up in a small standard room, which was very cramped with 2 adults and 2 kids and a dog! Unfortunately, for these reasons we all did not get much sleep or comfort in the actual room. However, the hotel adjusted the room price so we paid for the standard room we received and made sure we got free breakfast and a round of drinks on the house. We accept that mistakes happen and won't hold it against The Fenwick or the staff. The hotel would benefit from an electric car charger point - which the Manager said he was looking into.

A lovely pub with great food not far from the motorway in a beautiful area.”

We wanted to break up our journey from Oxfordshire to Edinburgh and this was a lovely place to do that. The food was excellent (evening meal and breakfast) and the room, bar area and staff all very good. We hope to be back and plan on spending more time there to explore the area in future. Overall a great find for us.

Staff were friendly and efficient, the place was lovely and quirky. Comfortable bed, rooms clean, hairdryer and luxury toiletries provided.
Steep outdoor stairway to rooms may not suit everyone. Be careful not to slip in shower no anti slip mat. Butternut risotto was very peppery and sloppy but chicken skewers were tasty.

Lovely ambience and decor very cosy
More of a cruise cabin up lots of metal stairs, no personal touch got given keys and told to go out front in rain and upstairs very noisy room and woke to a generator at 6.11am not well pleased as had a busy day ahead. Breakfast should have been included even continental.
