a 5-star wow”
We've been to Eastbourne several time before, and always toyed with the idea of staying at the Grand - but somehow never realised it... Now we know what we've been missing: a truly 5-star experience the English way!

Lovely traditional hotel - grand...huge!”
There are a lot of modern and minimalist hotels these days. This one is traditional and grand - a pleasant stay if you feel like something a bit different. I liked the high ceilings downstairs. And the dining hall is grand. Afternoon tea was pleasant, and breakfast ingredients were good quality - even at five star hotels you sometimes get just the usual tasteless cereal selection. The muesli here was delicious, as was the fresh honeycombe. There was also a full hot English breakfast selection, smoked salmon, fruit, etc. Housekeeping service was excellent. And with the exception of one staff member who seemed a bit inconsistent with five star standards, reception service was generally good as well.

Fabulous hotel”
My husband ran the Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday he deserved some luxury so only the Grand would do. We have stayed there before, the whole experience was amazing, the staff are lovely and the beds are extreemly comfortable, very important after 26 miles across the South Downs. We will be back next year.

Shabby chic”
The Hotel was a grand hotel and has a certain faded glory about it. When we arrived they didn't appear to have our booking and everything was looking rather suspicious as we were staying for 2 nights and Saturday night appeared to be full. When we got to our room I thought they had managed to find a very small room, I had booked a Deluxe room so was very disappointed that this was actually their standard room. The name of the room is very misleading. We had dinner in the restaurant on the night of our arrival and I was feeling unwell and all I really wanted was tomato soup which was not on the menu, my husband was having a full meal. The restaurant manager was excellent and got me tomato soup I was very happy. My husband was pleased with the standard of food. Breakfast is good, substantial but they are very prompt at clearing away at 10.30 even if there is a queue to get seated. The kettle in our hotel tripped the power so were without power for about an hour, the hotel dealt with it very promptly. I'm not sure I would go back again. I thought it was very expensive for what we got. It's not good value for money.

A fantastic old skool experience.”
I loved my stay at the note. It is terrifically old fashioned. The hotel is run beautifully. I have no complaints apart from the food could be a bit better, and the restaurant could be better priced and inviting for more local guests. That said, I like the dress code.

Lack of attention”
The staff were not attentive and did not match up to other 5 star hotels I have stayed in. We only stayed for one night and during that time we had to request things more than once. Our first experience was when we asked to have drinks outside, the response was a list of cant's, such as, you can't sit on the terrace because it's reserved for a bbq. After several questions we found that we could sit by the pool and have drinks in plastic glasses, which we did and the drinks were delivered, but no follow up to see if we would like more. We had to walk back to the bar and order again.

The Grand Hotel”
in my opinion this hotel is extremely over priced. The staff were not particularly helpful and breakfast was appalling; cold toast and very very poor service. We had to wait 40mins for our breakfast and it was not particularly busy and there were staff everywhere!

Above average”
I have been asked by agoda to leave a review for the grand in Eastbourne, unfortunately my review is not a good one regarding our room, tired and dated, the room gave me a sinus headache, very stuffy even with the window slightly open, the beds very comfy, sheets and bedding good quality, I have no idea what's happening with the floors, almost tripped over several times creaky uneven floor boards in our room and in the hall ways, the food was good which was a blessing, our stay included breakfast very good quality ingredients, this hotel regarding the rooms is not 5* we paid best part of £300 a night for two nights, definitely not a hotel I would recommend or return to, I think this hotel is probably OK for the over 60s and older, almost like God's waiting room, not my vibe at all.
