I had emailed the Inn twice to try and book a table for dinner on the night of our arrival. No reply received so eventually I called a few days before our arrival. I spoke to someone who appeared to be looking after the place for the owner and had no access to email. She took my details and 'made a note' but no-one got back to me to confirm a booking. Arrived at 15.30 hrs on a cold day 4 degrees c and shown to a 1st floor bedroom on the corner of the property above the bar area. The heating was not on in the room or first floor landing and it was bitterly cold. The excuse was covid and they had had the windows open earlier in the day. Nonsense..... it was clear the room had not been heated for some days... the central heating was then switched on but 2 1/2 hrs later it was still cold to the extent we had to go and get out winter coats to put over us in the room. Extra blankets were provided when requested. The TV in the room could only receive a couple of channels as the signal kept breaking up. The bar had a few people in as we could hear them below us, luckily not to many and no to late. When we went down to the dining room, that room was freezing cold as well. The food was lackluster and poor value for the money. Steak pie was £15.95 for a small dish with steak and gravy and a covering of puff pastry.. Vegetables were 2 small carrots and 2 small parsnip slivers that were clearly warmed up from a previous cooking and they were overcooked and mush. £5.50 for a small piece of lemon meringue pie and one scoop of ice cream. Total bill including a couple of drinks was £64.50... The lady running the place on her own was rushing around, she was lovely but it seemed quite clear that they turn everything off if no-one is booked in to stay and just run the bar. The bedroom did get warm eventually and it was beautifully refurbished with top quality fittings and decoration. The huge bed had a top quality wonderful mattress . I wouldn't stay there again, because if the

Not great!”
When we arrived we were told that we couldn’t book dinner until 8.15pm as they had a wedding on and the only other place in the village to eat finished serving food at 6pm! (This was about 5.30pm). At £135 per night and advertising a restaurant I didn’t feel this hotel met our needs as this spoilt our stay! We ended up sitting in our room from about 6.15 until 8.15pm waiting to have dinner! Not exactly catering to guests needs! Definitely wouldn’t go back! Which was a shame! Think the management need to understand Customer Service and f you are charging top prices then you need to provide top service!
