This hotel has a quiet elegance. And the service is superb.”
From Lalit's enlightened policy of inclusivity to their high standard of service, everything is excellent at this hotel. Even the basic rooms are luxurious and spacious. The location is convenient (only 5 minutes walk to Chandni Chowk Metro). We stayed almost a week there and were greeted on arrival by Mahima who explained that we could contact her if we needed anything during our stay. She was very hospitable. I included breakfast, which was well worth it as there was a huge selection in a bright and elegant setting. Buffet dinner was also very good quality. I've stayed at a lot of good hotels in India over many years but this one was the best. And if you book in advance through Agoda you can get a reasonable rate for 5 star comfort. One suggestion to management is to get a few more poolside chairs and provide some umbrellas to give shade. The pool is a nice place to relax.

Luxury at the heart of Kolkata”
Spent a couple of nights at the LaLit at the end of November. Shared our time with the Bangladesh cricket team. Lovely hotel. We stayed in an Edwardian room in the old part of the building. A large spotless room with everything you need. Breakfast was lovely and the staff amazing. The hotel is centrally located and it’s easy to walk or pick up taxis to the sites.. would stay again if in Kolkata.

Superb”
I was there during mid August. To me, this hotel is 9out of 10. Positive: Service: Excellent 10/10 Staff: Excellent 10/10 Room: Superb 10/10. I was in delux room which spacious enough to accommodate us with two kids. Very clean and well maintained. House keeping and room service is very good. Food: ok 7/10. Taking only breakfast. Location: 8/10. distance fm Park Street or new market around 1.5/ 1 km. it will cost 100 to 150 rupee in uber/taxi. Negative: Swimming pool: 5/10 not very clean. And behaviour of one support staff is not good, unlike other staff in lalit. Overall it is a perfect place for family.

I stayed at Lalit for 4 nights with my family and all of us loved the hotel. Built in 1830, the hotel has a great heritage. Centrally located. We had a wonderful stay at a very reasonable price. Thanks to Lalit.

One of the oldest hotels in Kolkata. Recently renovated very tastefully to give it a vibrant & modern touch. Spacious rooms, nice setup. Very friendly staff, amazing dining experience. Would definitely visit again on my next trip to Kolkata.

Remains of colonial era”
Efforts to retain some artifacts of the British era was truly impressive. Breakfast spread was not lavish as compared to other 5 stars but tasteful. Staff were nice.

Beautiful, modern hotel with traces of historic building that add character. We had a large, comfortable room in the old section of the hotel. Service was excellent, buffet breakfast was humongous, and location is central (although right next to seedy side street).

Pros: motivated staffs, hotel administrators are very much accommodative to individual requirements. If there is a service failure, they will re over the situation fast. Cons: the food is costly. Normally the portion you get at this price , can be shared by 2 people. But here one portion is just enough for 1 normal person; may not be enough for food lovers.

Heritage blended with Modern Amenities”
A great hotel indeed. Each time we visit, we feel like coming back. However, housekeeping service in terms of room making up on the 2nd day was a bit of let down, compared to the jaw dropping work done by the responsible person on our previous stay. Certainly value for money and must stay at least once to savour the history of the Great Eastern Hotel of Kolkata.
