Highly Recommended - Absolutely Excellent and Super Comfortable!”
I highly recommend this place! Super loved my stay there and would 100% recommend. The location is right in the middle of a very lively and busy shopping street (Shijo Dori) and only a few walks away from Nishiki Market, the "kitchen" of Kyoto. The check-in was seamless - they use a machine and the staff was also there to help us operate the machine. The room and the bed is super comfy. The tablet in the room for air con, checking the bathrooms etc was a nice touch. The bathrooms are plentiful (never had to wait in line for a shower) and spotless - absolutely clean and nice water pressure too. They also provide pajamas, towel, soap, toothbrush, hairdryer, cotton buds, etc. The water is purified and drinkable. The wifi works great too. They also let you store your baggage for free with a cool machine - a nice additional extra facility. I truly enjoyed my stay here and feel that it's worth so much more than we paid for. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

First, location in Kyoto is topnotch. Near Hankyu train stations and Kyoto subway station so going to many places in Kyoto is easy. Very near Nishiki market and shopping malls, walking distance to Pontocho Alley and Gion. Facilities are great, tablet provided in the room to check availability of bathrooms etc. Very clean and brightly lighted. Common lounge area is spacious. Luggages can be kept for free or for a fee using IC card. Staff are very approachable. Solo room was comfortable even if small, just enough for a solo traveller with some space for a medium roller bag at the foot of the bed and a mini shoe rack under the bed. Shared bathroom (female floor) was very clean and complete with bathing needs. Keycard is needed to operate elevators and bathrooms so it feels safe.

We had a nice time in our stay. Check in was fast. Counter staff can communicate in English, organized, courteous and accomodating. The restrooms were clean - all the time. What's good here is that you don't line up or wait for the shower because they provided a tablet where it shows which shower room is vacant. Their rules are very clear. It has a nice and cozy lounge where you can watch tv, read books and sometimes get to know other guests. In my case, I got to know Weng and her friend from England. Location is very good too. Its a walking distance to Gion and other branded stores and near to station. I will love to come back to Kyoto and stay at The Pocket Hotel again. 💗😊

Super new and "high-tech" place”
Though the room is a bit small but it has just enough space for our 2 carry-on luggage under the bed and 1 big luggage at the corner. The hotel is quite new and though it takes around 10 to 15 mins to walk from the train stations, Nishiki Market is about 100 meters away only from the hostel on the same road. The towels and pajamas provided for free and could be changed every day. It is a very "high-technology" hostel and we used Kiosk to check in and out. There is a tablet provided in the room in which also give the access to control the ac in the room and etc. The key card was also needed to access certain areas such as only females can use their key cards to access female toilets and showers, so it was very safe and comfortable.

Exceptional”
I had an excellent couple of nights at The Pocket Hotel. Location is excellent (although a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station), rooms and facilities are pristine clean, and the privacy and soundproofing is very nice. I stayed in a number of other hostels in Japan on my trip (for a comparable price) and this was by far my favourite. If you’re looking for a good night’s sleep I’m the heart of Kyoto without paying an arm and a leg, definitely consider this place.

Clean and near to bus station and subway station ”
It's really a very clean place. They provide towel and sleep wear to you and you can change it everyday. Their security is very good. Due to it is shared bathroom, your access card can only allowed you to access based on your gender. You no need to worry a male will go to a female bathroom. The entire place is clean and new! I really love it very much and will stay there for my next trip.

Great location - literally a few steps away from Nishiki Market and Shijo - superb accessibility via bus or subway Rooms - efficient use of space, spotless clean, amenities and security locks all in order Facilities - clean shower rooms and toilets, towels, pajamas All in all, a great hotel to crash into after a tiring day of sightseeing. Perfect for one or two persons traveling.

Convenient location, clean. High tech. Tablet time doesn't always update itself though. But I loved the room and the beds. Really comfortable. Perfect for solo travellers. Lounge area was large, so u can pack your stuff there if you're dropping off your luggage. You can drink from the taps.

Everything you want in a hostel and more”
Was thoroughly pleased by my stay here. The check in was fuss free. Everything was done digitally and it was more of a self checkin with staff there to assist. There were pjs for you if you'd like and was pleasantly surprised they offerred toothbrush and a towel for your stay. Cleanliness of shared bathroom and shower was 10/10 and room was spacious enough for 1 pax (I was in the single room). There was a compartment for your luggage under your bed and a full length mirror in your room too. Would def recommend of anyone is looking for a pace to stay in Kyoto!

Excellent location near to Nishiki market, shopping streets, subway Station etc. Excellent facilities, even though need to share bathroom and toilet, but very modern, clean, convenient, never need to queue. Polite staffs, provide home wear for us. Everything is good, perfect, 10/10

Convenience at its finest”
The pocket hotel is tucked away in an alley yet it is so convenient! It is located within the city centre, a minute walk to Nishiki Market (you literally walk out and turn right and there is the market), surrounded by shops and shopping centres as well as near to the subway. Not only is the location awesome, the interiors of the room and the amenities available are above my expectations. Only wished they had water dispenser To top up our water bottles or cooked cup noodles on a rainy and lazy day in. Overall, I would definitely come back here again! :)

I love the location, it's a mere stone's throw away from Nishiki Market, and there are several bus stops and train stations that connect you to most of the places you want to be in. The room was much bigger than I was expecting and it was comforting to have a private room to return to after a long day. Shower facilities are very clean!

Very modern and secure”
The staff was very helpful during my check-in process and were more than helpful whenever I had difficulties during my stay. I was amazed at the high level of technology utilized at the hotel, where rooms had their own tablets with multiple features - including info regarding which toilet stall is occupied, what floor is for what gender, and where I would be able to find a female shower room, etc. This hotel was booked last minute, but the pricing was very reasonable, and I would love to recommend this to anyone.

Perfect for solo traveler ”
Good location, quiet and I have a good rest here(I’m a light sleeper)The tablet can control everything and you just need to bring yourself there. I’m impress how big the room is, I can open up my 24 inch suitcase without any problem. Toothbrush, towel, hair dryer ,all provided. The shower (grohe) is awesome! The only thing is that other traveler sleep quite late and they walk loudly and close the door loudly but has nothing to do with the hotel

New hotel and excellent location”
Nishiki market is just a couple of minutes walk from The Pocket. Gion is about 10 minutes walk away. Very attractive room rates. Do not encountered any trouble using common bathroom and toilet facilities despite near full vacancy.

High tech hotel with amazing facilities that cater to all essential needs. Minutes from kyoto centre”
Definitely consider staying here. The hotel had a modern look and feel, and has invested in all the amenities of a high tech Japan, such as tap card entry, heated interiors with purified heated water on demand as well as high emd bidets. The hotel is minutes from the city centre and multiple large shopping streets as well as bus stations leading to multiple attractions.
