The room with the four poster bed was very grim, defo not worth the money, very dark inside with a awful smell, (but went to the bridal suite & that was lovely bright & clean)

Good value overnight stay ”

We booked the Popinjay for an example overnight stay while travelling between Skye and Yorkshire. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially to our young puppy. The beer garden and grass next to the car park were an unexpected bonus. We would definitely stay again as it was not far off the M74.

Very good”

Agoda failed to inform us that the restaurant would be closed the night we were there. One of the reasons we were going was because I've been before and enjoyed the food and facilities. So that was a big disappointment. We had to order in a take away. The jacuzzi was Luke warm and the sauna was painfully hot, advised staff of this and was told this happens sometimes. So not o early impressed with Agoda or popinjay in this occasion.

Nice stay”

The Popinjay has a long tradition in our family. Both my late parents used to go there from the late 70s onward. Staff are friendly (hi Imelda), well-stocked bar, nice room and comfy beds, and lovely garden on the banks of the River Clyde. Highly recommended.

Nice Stay - Great Pool”

Stayed for 1 night on way from Norfolk to Aberdeen to break up the journey. We were all looking forward to a nice dip in the pool - I was quite surprised to find that this was a full size pool which was great for all of us. The evening meal was very nice and service was great - staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was very filling and we were soon on our way again. I would stay again.

Very good”

I travelled with family to visit a relative. The hotel is old but what sold it for us was the swimming pool for the children and the closeness to the family we were visiting. The hotel itself looks tired and in need of some refurbishment. The carpets in the bedrooms and corridors looked dirty. The first night we could not get hot water. The receptionist advised us that it was because the hotel was old and to run the water for 5 minutes which didn’t make any difference. One of our rooms experienced considerable noise every time someone adjacent to us turned on the hot water tap so I had 2 nights with interrupted sleep, especially the second night when the hotel was busier. I did report this on checking out but they did not seem overly bothered at my lack of sleep. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpfu. The children loved the swimming pool and that made it a good break for them. Doubt I would go back though.

Restaurant was good, but couldn't choose when to eat, had to eat early and spa was closed by the time we finished, we had planned to use the spa then eat. The room was below 3 star and there was no hot water!
