Very basic ”

Room 5 more for a single, definitely not a double. Go somewhere else, it’s not worth the money. Almost £100 for room only.

Pleasant surprise”

The street view and position could put people off but don't be. Once you step through the beautiful front doors and go up the wide staircase to reception on first floor you're in another world. The staff are friendly, cheery and efficient. It's a hotel with age but it has charm, it's unique, a little bit quirky but our bed was comfy, the room was warm, plenty of lighting, generous supply of tea, coffee, sugar & milk on tray. A mini fridge if required, large TV. Perfectly adequate en suite with shower over bath - and every inch was clean. The breakfast was one of the best as the cooked element was so fresh. The chef cooks in small batches and replenishes the display so that nothing sits around which is so pleasing. My egg was perfect, the bacon tasty. Parking very limited but there's a taxi rank outside and it's easy to drop off and unload then park at a nearby working men's club for £2 per night. The hotel is so central and is of an era when parking was not the norm. There is a lift.
