I stayed at the Clayton for a few nights recently while visiting family and found it to be a great spot. Excellent location, right near the train station but walking distance from downtown Cambridge. Very nice breakfast buffet, clean comfortable rooms and excellent customer service. Top notch!

Great place to stay”
Although pricey, it is newly renovated and the room very clean & bed very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Romy at the front desk. Room 425 had electric problems (bad connection) with the USB outlets both on the desk and by the bed, therefore, issues with phone-charging. However, I heard that a colleague's room on the 5th floor had no problem, so I assume it was just a problem for the room I stayed in.

Pros: • Near Train station and many markets and cafes are around the corner. • The room is big compared to what I had in London. Cons: There are 2 problems during my stay. • First, I left my room around 10am came back at 3pm. The room was still not cleaned. Then the lady finally cleaned it after 4pm. You can tell it’s in a rush. She only made the bed and cleaned the trash. Not a 4 star-level housekeeping. • I bought the breakfast from the front desk, but the restaurant did not have my info and took down my room # again. Afterwards, I talked to the front desk and she ensured me I won’t get double charged. On my check-out day (March 13), unsurprisingly I was charged twice for breakfast and also for a room service I never ordered. The lady there helped me correct it, but did not apologize. She just kept blaming the restaurant. Mischarging guest is probably the worst thing a hotel can do. Really bad for your reputation.

Very convenient hotel, nice, clean, big room”
The hotel is conveniently located near the Cambridge train station, only 2 mins walk. The room was big and clean. There are a few fast food shops nearby which is convenient for those who want to bring food for the train journey. There’s a small Sainsbury’s (supermarket) nearby. The city centre is about 20 mins walk from the train station (from the hotel). We took bus at the nearby bus stops to the city centre for a different experience. Our original plan was to move to London after 2 nights staying at Cambridge. After we checked in the hotel, we found the room so comfortable, we decided to cancel the hotel booking at London and extended our stay at Clayton for 2 more nights. We travelled to London on a day trip for some sight seeings. We tried the restaurant on the ground floor for dinner, not many choices of food, taste was fine.
