The Weigh Inn Motel is located in Thurso, a short walk to the coast. Thurso Rail Station is a 5-minute drive from on the hotel and 2 minutes' drive from the Orkney Ferry Terminal. All bedrooms have their own bathroom and include tea/coffee making facilities. The sport-themed Ashes Bar is located in the main building and serves lunch and evening meals. WiFi is free in public areas of the main building but is not available in the rooms.

better than expected”
At first sight of room was pretty taken back. were in a room out the back of hotel - looked like a row of storage sheds. But inside not so bad. Room quite large, bathroom adequate. internet only available in main building. breakfast great, staff friendly and thurso a good place to sightsee from. all in all, for the money it was good value

Late breakfast up to 11am, lodges are nice and tidy shower wasn't that powerful however it was red hot. Breakfast you had a good choice off a set menu, also cereal, toast yoghurts and fruits tea,coffee and juices. I would recommend this hotel only 20 miles from John O groats.

The lodges are elderly and show it but the price can't be beaten and it is so handy to the ferry should you have to find accomodation due to ferry sailing being cancelled. Most important of all, the staff are absolutely fabulous, they made our two night stay here memorable. Five stars for the staff.

I booked one night at the Weigh Inn, but ended up staying two. The very amazing receptionist, Julia, I think? worked very hard to secure a room for another night for me. Above and beyond as she spent at least a half hour sorting things. First room was fairly basic, but more than adequate. Second room was fantastic and very comfortable. Evening meal was great first night, although presentation could have been better......but breakfast was VERY good. Although slightly tired, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I believe they are upgrading/decorating a lot of the accommodation. I would definitely stay there again if I were in the area.

Overnight stay for ferry”
Basic but clean and cheap-good value for money and dog allowed. Good shower and breakfast was excellent. Overnight stay to catch ferry next day so not looking to break the bank, so this ticked all the boxes and didn't disappoint-definately recommend.
