Great Value for Money ”

My boyfriend and I stayed here as teenage travellers celebrating the end of high school. As you can guess that means budget budget budget...we booked Kiba hotel for 7 nights with the expectation that we’d be sacrificing comfort for price, but we ended up loving it more than some more pricey experiences. The staff are very friendly, giving you fresh towels, pyjamas and free bottles of water after each trip out (which you’ll find necessary if you trek around Tokyo as much as we did). At first we found the facilities difficult as they are located on different floors, however we figured out how to be more efficient and ended up appreciating the spa day-like showers (each one has bottles of hair product, toothbrushes, and many facial/body cleansers - which comes in handy in winter with terribly dry skin). It also has a very safe and secure environment which I was worried about initially as the capsules are simply covered by a curtain, the luggage is in an open area (although monitored by staff) and the showers are open. However, we found that it is the perfect opportunity to talk to foreigners and get to know other people! As someone who is very picky and used to travelling to 5-star hotels with my family, I can highly recommend this place and would like to rebut comments saying that it’s uncomfortable or ugly. There is a lot more good I could say about it and there’s no regrets in booking the capsule for a 7-night stay!

Great option for families to try capsule hotel”

If you have children and want to try capsule hotel this is a great option. We stayed for one night and had a fun experience. My son is 8 years old, he slept with me in double capsule. I would not stay for more thane night, as I feel quality of sleep isn't as good as in other hotels because it is after all a place with many other people around.

Good place for the capsule hotel experience in Tokyo”

As far as a place to stay or cost effectiveness for a couple, this is not the smartest choice, in our opinion. However, this is one capsule hotel that allows couples to stay together in a double bed capsule. And since we wanted to experience a capsule hotel before departing Tokyo, this was great for that. We appreciated the ability to leave our luggage in storage both before checkin and after checkout the following day, which allowed for city exploration.

Couple capsule hotel with many rules. ”

First time staying a double capsule. Some inconvenient such as male and female toilet are separate different levels. Female at level 4 and male at level 5. The shower room is at level 3. And it takes turn for female and male to use the big bath. You can’t put your belonging with you as there won’t be much space. Luggage are left at lobby area where you need to go down everytine you need change or need to use your luggage. The lounge area also have opening time, and is not available all day, which I find it funny. Also everytime when you leave the hotel to go out , you need to leave your key at the counter , which I don’t see the purpose of doing that. I hope this review are useful to you. It would be great if I know all these to know all these things before I book.

Come with low expectations”

Staying here was definitely an interesting and unique experience. However, we stayed for one night and that was more than enough. The facilities were old, many of the toilets were out of service, and the women’s bathroom smelled like feces. My boyfriend and I received one small locker to store our belongings. The staff wasn’t the most welcoming or friendly. If you aren’t with a significant other, I’d recommend staying at a nicer capsule hotel for the experience.

It presents a great unique experience, especially for couples. The capsules are small but you can get by despite the slight crampness. Each capsule has a little curtain thing you can draw down, so you can have a bit of privacy although it can't drown out sound (if you're a light sleeper, you may need ear plugs). The staff are all quite friendly and are able to speak English, which definitely helps. They even give you a free towel, pajama robes, and slippers EVERY DAY. It is extremely convenient and it was an unexpected surprise. Tokyo Kiba Hotel is also located very near Kiba station, barely 5 minutes away. There is also a mall-type area nearby with a huge grocery area where you can buy groceries if needed.

Recommended capsule hotel for female travelers”

cleanliness, comfort

I really wanted to try sleeping in a capsule hotel when I was in Japan, and Tokyo Kiba was the only one that allows females that looked very promising to me and I was definitely pleased during my stay! The capsules are very clean and comfy. The size is just slightly narrower than a single bed. The staff are also very friendly and it's right behind the Kiba subway station which makes it very accessible!

Quiet and friendly stay”

Staff, location, price

The staff is very friendly and will help you out if you're looking for something, attractions, transport, anything. Just ask them whatever :) The price is low, and that's because of the rooms I guess. It's a pod capsule hotel, meaning you have the limited space of about 1 square of a hotel room! But it was strangely nice. You are not shut in by your room either, it's a curtain of sorts that you can pull down to block the exit to capsule pod. The price is good because of the location: it's about 100 - 200 meters to the nearest metro train station AND bus stop. NOTE! Remember to purchase a one day ticket or so, depending on how long you are going to stay in Tokyo, to use the METRO trains, same goes for bus, but you can choose one of them, it's less expensive. If you have the Japan Rail Pass, it will NOT work on metro trains, and you won't be able to enter without buying a ticket first. ANYWAY! The price is also good because of the bathrooms, in my opinion. They have a hot tub or Jacuzzi that you can use whenever you want (except cleaning time, it's posted in the hotel), for free. Also, don't bother to bring shampoo, conditioner or such, you get that for free in every hotel. BUT you should bring or buy a hand soap and a small towel for when you're out sightseeing and travelling, because when you need to use a restroom, they don't have soap...or towels. Sucks big time. It doesn't take long to get to the nearest attractions, about 10 - 20 minutes or so. The BAD thing about the location is that there is NO JR train station nearby. That means you HAVE to use the metro, bus or a taxi to get around. There are local restaurants, malls, food stores, hair dressers and stuff next door to Kiba hotel. And a radio station, lol.

Loved it!”

My fiancé and I were looking for a shared capsule experience but were having trouble finding a mixed gender capsule. We had a great stay at Tokyo Kiba. FYI you can share a twin or full-sized capsule. The facilities were clean, staff were really on top of things, and we slept incredibly well. Guests are pretty considerate of quiet hours. There's also a lounge so you don't have to stay couped up in the capsule. The bathroom includes a jacuzzi and sauna too. Great value for the cost. This capsule is close to Tsukiji market and Ginza district. I'd absolutely stay here again!

Good to experience”

Capsules

Its was something you have to experience when in Japan. From research I think kiba hotel is the only capsule hotel for couples. Cons: capsules are a bit small for couple, can be a bit noisy, mattress is a bit hard !! Pros: really cool experience, matching PJs, communal showering (sitting down) and bathing, free toiletries and much more !! I recommend doing it for one day just to experience it !!
