Great family hosting experience ”
As the title, it’s been a great great experience for me to stay in here. I was just plan to stay in here for two to four days, but it turned out I have extended my stay couple times. The hostess has a great family, which is so sweet and nice, I love to chatting with them, and appreciate they had cooked such amazing dinner for me every night. Also, the great thing is I cloud use the bike very freely, so there has many things to do, and many places to explore! Highly recommend for anyone who want to reach the amazing Japanese nature here!

Staffed by very nice old people ”
This hostel is run by a nice couple. The food they prepared for me was great. I have a rental car and they have ample parking space. I stayed in a female dorm room but I ended up using the room by myself. It was cozy. :)

Exceptional”
I love my stay here! It feels so homey. The owners speak a little English but they are very nice. They can also provide breakfast and dinner so I suggest you avail of that. The hostel's location is near the Lake Towadako JR Bus Stop so it is very convenient. The hostel can be reached either from Aomori or Hachinohe Station (~1.5 hours away). Make sure that you arrive early (before noon) because the bus timings around Towadako is limited. I arrived from Hachinohe Station and the last bus is around 2pm. I'm not sure about Aomori but you can get the bus schedule from the Tourist Information Center at Hachinohe Station.

Return Stay”
This was the second time that we stayed at the Towadako Backpackers for our annual trip to Lake Towada and the Oirase Gorge. The staff and other guests are very friendly and accommodating. It is a wonderful traditional Japanese inn.

Simple and comfort”
As its name, this is a place for backpacker to stay. I think what you experienced there is more than how much you paid. Although the owner who is an old man who doesn't speak English, he is sincere and cute! I went dinner at a place recommended by him. That restaurant run by family and quite home-liked. However, the house is a bit old and no private toilet and bathroom. I am hoping to go Towada again in Autumn time, I will definitely stay there again instead of usual hotel/onsen.

Unbelievable value for money”
-extremely friendly and helpful staff -free breakfast (Western style: toast, eggs, cereal, coffee..) -free bike borrowing -nice, clean and comfortable sleeping quarters For extra fee there's : -laundry -dinner (didn't have any, but looked good and plentiful) -bunch of snacks and drinks AND it's close to the local onsen and bus stop. All of this for ~2000¥ a night !? Honestly, I don't know why anyone would go to any other hotel on lake Towada, this one is just crazy dollar for dollar value, and one of the best cheapo hostel experiences I've had.

Budget choice for Oirase and Towada Lake”
This hostel and the annex are the only budget options available, especially for solo travelers, for the Towada Lake and Oirase region. The location is central, just 5-min walk from 休屋, the bus terminal and the pier. The room was comfortable and warm for cold evenings. They served free breakfast, while dinner upon order. The meals were nice. The only downside is that they only have two shower rooms, which during peak hours, there might be a line waiting for shower.

OK place for one night”
OK Backpacker Hostel offers simple but free breakfast and cheap dinner. The staff is friendly and helpful but they speak barely English. Beds are hard but OK, the toilet and the shower could be cleaner. Nice Onsen (Spa) next door for 500 Yen.

Dorm room was very nice and cozy. Common areas were kind of drafty and had an eerie haunted house vibe, but were overall fine. The bathroom was not good—very cold and had an unpleasant smell. However, the price is right!

very easy to find and walk to getting off from the jr bus station can use their free bikes to go about need some basic japanese language knowledge to communicate better with the staff, but they are all very nice and friendly set dinner is nice and ouishi

10min walks from the lake, 5 min from a wonderful onsen, 2 min from a small local konbini, and with free bikes. What else do you need? We loved it so much that we came there 2 times on our trip!

i can see many Hong Kong people there, i think it is suitable place for single tourist owing to cheap hotel fee but abundant facilities, you can cook there.
