Great Onsen Hotel ”
Love the spacious traditional Japanese room with tatami bed, with the lake view is so beautiful. The breakfast n dinner is good. The best thing about this hotel is the Onsen pool which located on the top floor, overlooking the lake is out of this world, especially for the outdoor pool.

scenic view stay.. U need to take bus from Jr Toya. Remember not to stop at Toya onsen station(last station) otherwise u need to walk backward for another 10mins. And it happen on me. Please stop 1 stations earlier than Toya onsen street.

Cozy place by the lake ”
We have a good time in the hotel. Our package includes breakfast and dinner which are good. The location is nicely located right in front of bus stop. Onsen is good and clean. The lobby is spacious with good view of the lake. Our tatami room is spacious and clean. Our kids had lots of fun playing in the snow covered walks along the lake. It is a very good stay!

My family and I booked the free shuttle bus service from JR Station to Toya Kohantei Hotel. Although I tried to send and waited for a confirmation mail from hotel that I completely reserved my seats on the shuttle bus already, but there was no replied-mail. So I asked the another hotel that I stayed call to Toya Kohantel Hotel for confirmation, I just knew that my seats were reserved already. Exception about I complained, I liked everything about this hotel. Its location closed to convenient store, souvenir local shop, the Lake view, Nice Onsen, and the illumination tunnel (a illumination festival in the winter). They switched between the lady and gentleman onsen in the night and day time. The hotel provided the bingo game for customer (had to pay the bingo ticket first; 500 yens), it was fun.

Relaxing all inclusive resort with beautiful view”
We enjoyed the combination western and Japanese style sleeping room with lake view. The spa is very nice offering multiple pools both inside and outside. The bingo activity after dinner was a nice added opportunity to have fun before relaxing in the spa. This hotel is located on the waterfront in Toyako. It is well worth the extra price to be in this area with an exceptional view of Lake Toya and the volcano across the lake.

The hotel is not located near to the train or bus station, and also, the hotel name was displayed in Japanese instead of Toya Kohantei hotel. Hence, it's quite difficult to locate the hotel when you are taking a bus. But, all this will be compensated with the stunning lake view when you have check-in to your room....the spas were also good, overall, enjoyed our stayed here!

Best rooftop onsen ever!!”
The only reason I would stay at this onsen hotel again is because of the amazing rooftop onsen. One part of the onsen is located on the outdoor rooftop with individual sized tubs to soak in, which is great for people like me who are shy to soak in the same pool/tub as other strangers. The onsen is open pretty much 24 hours except for a few hours where they clean the onsen area and switch the male and female onsen signs. I went at around 11pm and it was completely empty. Soaking in the hotspring waters outdoors while there were light snow flurries was a really awesome experience. I have no complaints about my Japanese style room where I slept on tatami mats. My room also had a balcony facing Mount Usu and Lake Toya. Another great thing about this hotel is they provide free shuttle to and from Sapporo station.

Swanky on the outside but old on the inside”
The Toya Kohantei Hotel has been around for many years and the age is evidently shown in the rooms and facilities in the hotel. Rooms looked pretty dated and stains can be seen in the room toilet. The buffet spread for breakfast and dinner was pathetic as the food tasted bad (or average at best) - I'm pretty sure I can get better food from a combini store. That said, the location of the hotel is really good - right in front of motomachi bus stop and where Lake Toya is. You'll be able to see the Lake Toya fireworks that takes place at 8.45pm every night from your hotel room (if you're facing the lake). The open-air onsen offers a really good view of the vicinity; however the crowd can be a killer as there are a lot of tourists from tour groups.

Excellent Lakeside View and Fireworks Display”
I stayed for one night with my wife and my 8yo boy. My wife loved the spa as it locates on the rooftop which offers unblock view of Lake Toya. We took buffet dinner and breakfast which offer good variety. The Japanese style room is not as spacious as expected but is on the top floor (same level as the spa) with a balcony to enjoy unhindered view of the lake and more importantly of the fireworks display at night. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone going to Lake Toya during summer time when there is fireworks display every night.

Amazing onsen hotel ”
The rooftop onsen is the best experience I had in Hokkaido. I managed to go up just before dinner time and I almost had the whole onsen to myself. To immerse in the outdoor tub overlooking Lake Toya is an experience out of this world. The buffet dinner and breakfast is superb. We are both stunned by the variety and also the quality of the food. To top it off, the bingo is fun and almost everyone got a little present. I will certainly stay here again if I come back to Lake Toya.

Nice location, Needs improvement on buffet”
The location is nice. You can walk to the lake! It’s literally in front of the beautiful Lake Toya that can also be seen through the window of the room. The staff at the front desk are nice and pleasant. They also have a shuttle bus going to Chitose airport for a minimum price of 1000 yen - reserve your bus seat beforehand as it gets quite full. The room is clean albeit the structure’s a bit old. I wish the buffet dinner have more choices like gyoza or shrimp tempura or yakiniku. It was still a pleasant stay though. Hope to be back again someday.

Friendly helpful staff. Night activity include bingo game, which comes with extra charge. Location is excellent, Lake Toya is just in front of the hotel. We got the lakeview tatami room with a small balcony, excellent view of the fireworks in Oct! Room had free mineral water, tea and snack, but room smelt abit musty, and furniture was old. Onsen had excellent view of the lake, though crowded and a bit old. I chose the hotel, as it also offered a buffet of dinner and breakfast, which was value for money. But I think the food still needs some improvement, and the food choices can be rotated around, instead of same food everyday.

Hotel provide free transport pick up from & to Sapporo station, which save us a lot for the Time and money spent on JR. Love the room and buffet dinner&breakfast. Love their hotel staff. Recommended hotel if u going to lake toya.

Great location & onsen during our 2N stay!”
I went with a very low expectation as I read some negative reviews. I personally think that they are totally wrong!!! My group consists of 3 families with a total of 13 pax (4 children). We totally enjoyed our stay and want to be back again. The hotel location is very strategic. You can enjoy watching the 3 series of fireworks in just a few steps to e lake or from your room. Always wait for e grand finale of every series of fireworks with e 1st one beig e best. The tatami room is huge. The onsen is fantastic! We love the outdoor tubes. Visit e onsen during night & day as e hotel switch between Female & Male onsen so that guests get to experience both. The Bingo game at e lobby (8pm) was fun! Pay JPY500 for a Bingo coupon to play. There are sufficient parking lots right opp the hotel and 7-eleven is right next to the hotel. The breakfast & dinner buffet spread are great too! The staff are very friendly and went the extra mile to help us. We'll be back.

Hotel with great view for Toya Lake”
We stayed in Ryokan style. Good thing about this hotel is location, allowing us to see Toya lake from our room. Staff services was great. The hotel may be a little bit old and outdoor onsen is a bit small. Dinner and breakfast are good, lots of variety of food. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.
