Exceptional”
This place is right next to a bus stop by the walking paths and walking distance from Lake Toya, so the location is great for saving money by not staying in the main strip. Everything was clean, room was spacious, wi-fi is good. It's run by an older lady who is extremely accommodating. No buses run after the nightly fireworks over the lake, but she'll offer to drive you back as long as you're at an agreed at meeting spot!

Room feedback”
This accommodation is clean, has private toilet in room and owner is friendly. Even owner don't know English, but she tried her best to recommend nice and cheaper food to us. Still can understand what did she said. Outside building has free parking lot. Location is consider near of Lake Toya see firework location. Owner has provide car send you to see firework location, then set a pick up time after firework send you back to accommodation. Overall is good and be worth.

Location away from main town area but easily assessible by car”
The building was under renovation during our stay so rather dusty. Room was generally spacious but not after you lay out the bed futon, which the owner required you to bring down fron the mezzanine floor. Could have slept up there but was told not to do so. as there was no lighting and not much headroom. There is a small kitchenette area for those who want to do very light cooking. The oba-san senior owner was nice but fiesty. Just be polite and she will surely reciprocate. There is a nice view of the lake as you drive down. Good for short stay.

Basic place to stay”
Owner is super friendly and cute. Offered to fetch us from Toyako terminal but as we are driving so I choose to stay here. Without transport it’s hardly accessible. Before we check in, owner already on the heater for us and told us to self service. Do take note that this is a home not hotel don’t expect services. When we arrived there’s no one around and owner not in. Parked our car and automatically proceed into the house ourselves and go to our room. At night when owner is back she came to knock on our door then we make payment for the room and heater. The next morning she even gave us tamago to eat during our drive to Otaru!

Private bathroom in cheap price you can get of all lake hotels”
The owner of this house is an old lady who can't speak english, we arrived with big luggage and had to wait until dark to check in since the owner was missing, it's wasting our half day time for traveling around the lake. Two technicians existing there helped us to call the owner and offered us their finished-working guest room, which we had to still stay in that room for 2 nights without getting room change even the owner had arrived. We were pushed to pay extra for using heater. Hotel is easy to access, just at first stop (Nishiyama) from JR lake toya station by bus, but there is nothing around hotel, we must take bus again or taxi to visit city and lake in Toyako Onsen area. The owner was so talkative eventhough we didn't understand what she said, she was nice to drive us to city for dinner, but then left us, so we finally spent extra taxi fare to go back to hotel. Room is spacious, has 2 floors, kitchen sink, and private bathroom with the lowest price of all hotels there.

Exceptional”
Location was around 25min walk to the center of the Toyako onsen town and near the 西山火口散策路 bus stop. It is however, near the entrance two of the walking trails. Lady owner spoke only Japanese but was very kind to offer to fetch me (and another traveler) with her car after the fireworks display at Lake Toya at night. Room was spacious and clean. No convenient stores nor restaurants nearby but tranquil place to stay in. There's fridge, kettle and sink in the room (sufficient for instant meals).

Nice hotel”
We stayed at this hotel for two nights during a cycling tour. The room was quite spacious and the location is of geological interest. I would stay there again. The owner, Koizumi-san, was very friendly and helpful.

volcano Hotel”
This hotel is 1km away from a small volcano. Up the volcano , breath-taking view of wholeLake Toyako can be seen. Service is friendly but Japanese speaking. Self serve laundry is cheap. It is very close to nature and very good for someone who is interested in volcanic activities.

need to have a car ”
rooms have a loft (best for just one person on the loft) and two people in the living room area. no air conditioning nor fans provided. en-suite toilets. "hotel" is run by a very friendly old lady who can only speak japanese so knowing some basic japanese would be good. the hotel is out of the main toyakoonsen area (it is at the end of the konpira crater trail/start of nishiyama crater trail), so a car is a must. no streetlights at night in that area so drive carefully, but wasn't a big issue. there is an hourly (infrequent but punctual) donan bus service to the hotel. the owner recommended us a value for money place for dinner at hotel manseikaku for 500¥. fireworks at toyakoonsen area at 8.45pm. overall decent stay with a car

Cozy guesthouse with a very friendly host”
The guesthouse is located at the start of a hiking trail away from the Lake Toya tourist district. That would explain the significant price difference with other "Lake Toya" hotels. Good for people with cars (approx 5 minutes drive to the tourist district) and ok for those without. Bus stop across the road with half-hourly buses to town and to Toya JR station. Well kept and clean Japanese style rooms. You would have to pay for using the room heater. Very helpful and friendly owner who brought us to town and back to watch the nightly fireworks on Lake Toya (we did not have a car). However her English is not too good but we could make do and communicate somehow.

Excellent”
The obaa-chan was nice enough to wait for us for check-in (we arrive at the hotel around 8.15pm). 5 mins drive from Lake Toya Onsen area. Managed to watch the fireworks. Not so much amenities, but toilet and shower in included help much! Cheap room compared to other accommodations nearby. Value for the money!

Location quite far, not too clean”
This small hotel is located near the Nishiyama walking trail one or two kilometres from town centre. It is the last building towards the end of the road not counting the souvenir shop near the entrance of the walking trail. We arrived at 3.30pm, and the owner was nowhere to be seen. Managed to convey our predicament in broken Japanese to the nice lady at the souvenir shop who called the owner on her phone. Owner did not pick up. We waited nearly an hour before the owner called the nice lady and told us to enter our room which was unlocked with the key placed inside. A short while later, a young man turned up with our bedsheets and pillowcases. Only saw the owner at night (a friendly old lady) where she apologised. All only spoke Japanese. Futons and duvets were placed in the loft and we had to carry them down ourselves. Not a problem for us. But no covers for duvets was provided. It didn't feel clean. No towels or shampoo provided, only a bar of soap. There's a fridge, one kettle and a small tv. No aircon or fan. The hotel was the cheapest that I found in Lake Toya. But the cleanliness and reliabililty of the owner during check-in could be an issue. Location is pretty far for those without a car.

Good budget stay ”
Very friendly host but she only speaks Japanese. Its a bit aside from Toyaku, but you have a bus stop and a nice walking trail right next to the hotel.

Good option if you have a car”
This hotel is a small but convenient for low budget travelers. Most major hotels in the area charge double or more than what this little guesthouse offers. Sleeping on the floor mats (Japanese style) may not be everybody's thing but the rooms are good, bathrooms tiny but clean, no shops or restaurants around but you can ask for a ride from the owner...

Overbooked upon arrival and given a small room of Owner's house”
The Owner, a senior citizen was the only staff to run this Hotel whom she had been very kind to cater breakfast at FOC and sent us down to the Riverside area from the hotel locate on a mountain by her own vehicle. The unwanted experience was that no room available where we were being arranged to overnight in a small room like a utility room keeping her belongings and poor cleanliness which is located next to the Hotel, but the hotel room was seen clean. Another gentleman who checked-in after us was also being arranged to sleep in the Owner's Shop without bathroom facility which is also next to the Hotel. It would be at risk for female solo-Traveler as no alternative accommodations nearby, and need to book Taxi for traveling to the Riverside area where hotels are available...

A place to rest but don't have high expectations”
It's a small place runs by an older lady. She doesn't speak English but we tried our best to communicate. She forgot to provide the towels for us that night as she was rushing off to view the fireworks display nearby. The location is near to Lake Toya by driving (about 5 mins or so) and it's cheaper than those hotels at the time of booking. However, this is a very bare minimum place and if you don't expect too much, I guess it's ok. Futon style with attached bathroom.
