Tired old hotel ..avoid ”
This hotel would benefit from complete demolition and rebuild.. My thoughts are with the staff who have to work in this building.. the decor is 1970 s woodchip, stains on the wall and carpets.. we had to share one Bath towel between two.. for £104 per night..

Quiet place for a good price”
It is an old school hotel, very reasonably priced and pleasant, a 7 minutes train ride from Manchester. It has a health spa and gym as well.

Dirty needs a good refurbishment staff NOT pleasent”
Would not stay here again if someone paid me, staff not professional seemed as if we were in inconvenience. Got up to our room and cleaner was there strong smell of cigarette smoke so I presume she had been smoking in the room we were allocated and obviously not been cleaned for weeks as good layer of dust on furniture etc stained sheets also and paper thin walls as you could here other guests chatting.

Dreadful experience”
Hotel is unbelievably outdated and old. The location suited for my purpose but otherwise would stay well away. Was told off by the barman when 2 of us went to sit with a colleague in the restaurant who had eaten as we were not ordering food. The restaurant was empty so it wouldn’t have made any difference and we were joining him on his table. I’m 57 and don’t need telling off by an ignorant member of staff and made to feel like a child. That attitude though is because of the nature of the residents of the hotel, I am guessing but I’m sure there are some social security bookings.

Weekend Break Spoilt”
Hotel falling to pieces right from the handrails on the steps outside .. lifts don’t work .. hotel has smoking floors and absolutely stinks .. 1 flat pillow each asked for another was told not allowed asked to speak to the manager and was told he was the manager .. absolute disgrace, we even contemplated a very late 3 hour drive home .. now I know why they make you pay before you stay !!!

Great place to stay”
Was wary once I booked and looked at reviews but was fab stayed one night for concert hotel was full of people also going the staff was great, bar wasn't open when arrived so staff said we could go across the road to the shop and buy drink. The room was of good size two single and was clean. Didn't book breakfast so can't comment. Would certainly come again.

Disgusting hotel, don't stay”
Myself and my sister stayed for a single night the hotel was awful, grubby and dated. We were put in a room on the 3rd floor the only lift which was a ancient service type lift only went to the 2nd floor and rickety stairs to the 3rd. I am undergoing chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer so my sister asked if a move was possible which it seems not. The electronic key to our room didn't seem to want to work and the maid advised we take it to reception to have it tinkered with. Came back and finally worked though it seemed through luck rather than any missing knack. (what's wrong with a simple key???) Spending several minutes in the corridor smelt of old cigarette smoke and boiled cabbage. The room was small grubby with several areas of damp. The beds mattress paper thin & I didn't want to take a shower in the dated bathroom & would wait until I got home. We went to a concert in the evening then spent until gone midnight in the bar/reception area to avoid going to the room.

My Sister likes old british Hotels and chose this Hotel for gathering the family because af a wedding. I and my husband travel a lot, but this hotel has seen better days It was o.k. , near the wedding location but its nothing I would prefer for holydays- Breakfast was good.

Good, clean, staff friendly and it was pleasant to relax in bar area after visiting a relative in hospital after a long drive to Stockport.

the room was dirty, smelling of tobacco and still with traces of cigarettes. the value of the room is very high considering the terrible site. it should not even have three stars. I could not stay there and had to pay another hotel without being refunded.

It says free Wifi but to find it is only in the public and not in the room. Our room was 2nd floor which we had to use the old fashion pull 2 sides doors, which don't work well because others don't close both doors probably and I had to go up or down the stairs (which far end of the other side of the corridor) to close when moving our luggage. Then top of that there was quite noisy tapping of the piping all night long. On the whole, very disappointing stay.

Disgusting ”
This place is a disgrace, I will never stay here again and would never recommend it to any travellers. The corridors on the way to our rooms smelled of foist and room itself was a disgrace. There were holes in the carpet and debris on the floor. The furniture in the room was in terrible condition and a seat was so stained I wouldn't let my dog use it . There was water all over the bathroom floor and an empty shower gel bottle hanging from the shower rail. We were also refused service in the bar and told we couldn't be there due to being in work wear. On questioning this with the duty manager I was told that I had only booked a room but not the hotel which I find absolutely incredulous to say the least.

Hotel was ok for what we paid but I wouldn't stay tgere again. ”
Pros: £80 for 2 nights, clean bedding and towels Cons: small room, just brought room to walk round the bed, wallpaper peeling off where they must of had damp at some point, dirty in corners and not cleaned under the bed as we found a glasses case, God knows how long it had been down the side of the bed. The room was on the side so cars droning to and from the car park, even lorries, and people walking past constantly. Young woman at the desk quite cold and looked like she hated working there. I was stood there for a while before I realised I could just post my cards in the slot, she was quite sarcastic when I asked, I only knew as I saw a man leave them on the desk and she stormed over and threw them in the slot. Oh and last of all there is a really old fusty smell in the corridors. Good value for money cheapest I could find but needs a refurb and pleasant staff, she didn't even ask if I had a nice stay, no goodbye or anything
