Loved our period room, the furnishings are of a bygone era and the bathroom is large, with all the expected toiletries. We had a delicious pizza dinner in the front room, accompanied by a good red. Breakfast was plentiful and in another lovely room of the hotel. Parking was a bonus and its only a few minutes walk to the Walls of York and its attractions.

I stayed here for a long weekend for a much needed break and chose the deluxe double room for a bit of a treat. The hotel was easy to find and was a reasonably short walk from the train station and all the major attractions. My room was a bit dated and not what I would initially class as 'deluxe'. Room was quite small and it would have felt quite cramped with another person there. There was tea and coffee provided although I expected a bit more than instant nescafe sachets and biscuits which are made in Scotland. York has some amazing produce and this would be a great opportunity to show this. My room seemed to be interconnected to everyone's plumbing as I heard every bathroom fan and every pipe knocking. I didn't eat at the hotel (a veggie breakfast was £10) as I preferred to go to local businesses. A plus point is that all the staff were warm and welcoming.

Booked to stay here mid week, when we arrived we had a free upgrade to the 4 poster bedroom, which was outstanding. Could not fault anything, staff, service, location and cleanliness absolutely amazing.

We had just returned from a 2 week holiday in Croatia and thought we would utilise, nights owed in York. On arrival at reception we were greeted with .Do you have a car ? there will be a £7 a day parking charge .We were shocked, as this was a Hotel with its own parking ,outside the city centre. The room was old , tired and the bed nowhere near as comfortable as anywhere we had stayed abroad . The Hotel was a 20 minute walk from the centre overall disappointed with our stay ,tainted by a scandalous parking charge.

Vintage Design Near the OldTown”

Pros: Delicious breakfast, one of the best in hotels I had in UK. Very cozy, vintage design of the room. The service staffs are very attentive. Provides parking at £7/day. 15 to 20mins walk to old town, very convenient. Cons: spring on our mattress seems to be off, so there’s a sagging in the middle. What stands out: the vintage design, clean toilet, sumptuous breakfast 😃

Great small hotel in a lovely area of York”

We were in York for a conference. The hotel is ideally located to the north of the town centre in a quiet neighbourhood, and York Minster etc is easily accessible. The room we had was very large, with a lovely bathtub. It would have been good to have somewhere to hang the shower head, but that is our only complaint. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were lovely.

Absolute disaster! End up it's small, dark, old, worn out, sticky floor, squeaky bed, shower- no water supply....Very disappointed

the furnitures were old, not comfy at all. The bed was too 'fragile' like, we could hear the bed squeak all night long! The noise from the bar downstairs was annoying, it didn't stop not until midnight!

Relaxing, enjoyable and close to the city”

Staff were very helpful, the room was nice with a big bathtub in the bathroom, and nice balcony. It's around 10 minute walk to the centre of York. A good value hotel.
