Great location and nice, clean place”
I had a great stay at this hostel. I especially loved how close it was to the wall, which is the best way to get around York. It was also a short walk to the river, which was convenient in the evening when I went for a ghost tour. The hostel was super clean and comfortable, although there was quite a bit of noise from passersby on the street and trucks early in the morning. Despite that, I would definitely stay here again.

Best hostel I've stayed in the UK”
-Best location (very close to York station, city center) -Cheap but not comprosing quality -Spaceous room -Private space with individual bed-curtains and lamp - I loved it the most! -Quality breakfast for only 3.5 pound -Free luggage storage I would stay there if I visit York again and I wish other hostels in other cities are like Safestay york.

Beautiful ancient townhouse”
The hostel is located inside the city walls, about 5 mins' walk from the train station. It's a very beautiful old townhouse with history, with a large common room downstairs. We booked a 4-bed room but was upgraded to an 8-bed room, which equals very large space. Our windows overlook a beautiful chapel and garden. The hostel staff is nice. Breakfast is good, although comprises mostly of croissant, ham and cheese, and milk and cereal. The only downside is the stairs - beware if you have heavy luggage, although the hostel staff may offer to carry it for you.

The hostel is in the Micklegate area; the railway station is maybe 10-15 mins' walk away. Other tourist spots are also within walking distance. There's no lift so if you have a big bag it's a little inconvenient (although the night staff did offer his help when I arrived). The shared toilet in the dormitory is not cleaned everyday so that's also a bit uncomfortable. Other than that this hostel is a nice, safe, affordable place for single female travellers.

A Great Stay”
I stayed for 2 nights, the staffs were really helpful. The location is awesome. You will get all the historic attractions, nice pubs and restaurants within 10 mins walk.

Super value for money”
Spent one night here to meet a friend and this is probably the biggest bed I've slept in in any backpacker/hostel :D Room was spacious with heaters available..also wall sockets are ample in the room. Staff were very friendly too! Only downside was the room beside was too noisy and them slamming the toilet door or shouting means we can hear them quite clearly Will return again if I ever come to York again!

Location, Value For Money, INTERESTING HISTORY OF HOTEL”
We loved our stay here, it was pure immersion of what the vibe of York was. We loved our cute room with a view of the old streets of York. We loved the location, we just walked from the train station, to the shambles, to the shops, to anywhere! We will definitely stay here Kabayan!

Was stayed at 8 people female dorm, every bed has curtains, but the ensuite shower room plus toilet was horrible, it was about civic virtue, girls threw their rubbishes on the floor, didn't flushed the toilet properly, banged the room door loudly during the night and early morning; the only one restroom for 8 girls was crazy busy all the time, even busy after midnight. Was a shame that ground floor toilets were on construction, 2nd floor public bathroom were uncleaned. No kitchen in this hostel but there is a microwave and a kettle can be used. Lounge room and country yard just a peaceful place to sit down and chilled. Location is good, staffs are perfect.

We had the top most room that is spacious for 3 of us. Beds are soft and towels are cleans. Basic toiletries and toilet is clean. One minus point there is no floor mat at the toilet area... We made a request from the service counter and they suggested us to buy a bath towel at 4 Pounds. Hence we have to give up our own personal towel to be the floor mat as we don't like to walk around the room with wet feet as we may risk falling as it can be slippery on wooden floor.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Free luggage storage before and after staying. The whole property looks very cozy. Was staying in a 10-person dorm, the room itself is good, with a personal locker. However, if they can add a curtain for a upper bed, it’ll be great. My bed has a problem, the mattress was sinking like a u-shape, I didn’t notice before I slept, I believe the staff would be happy to change one for me, I was just too tired to go to ask for one. The person staying in the bottom of the bunk bed keeps moving strongly, which always woke me up, but it’s just a personal issue. I still recommend this lovely hostel. The location is perfect, the communal room is cozy.
