The Sandman is in a great location for the RVI and the city centre. It’s also opposite St James Park with a metro station and car park. Can’t beat it.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Just that the room is hot but got 2 fans to pull thru the night. Very near to shopping centre and Chinatown.

Practical business hotel”
Good location, practical no fuss rooms and the reception staff were excellent

Fantastic Location”
Really love the location! Is right in the city but yet not too close to the busy district, thus, it is not noisy at the hotel surrounding. Short walk to China Town and shopping district. Convenience store is just stone throw away. Spacious room with good size of toilet. Staff at the breakfast are friendly but not those at the reception.

After a few issues, hotel was as expected ”
Check in was not s great experience. Took longer than expected and was 3rd in queue. Was booked into room 402 and on opening the door was hit with a foul smell. Smelt like cat wee as soon as you opened the door. Spoke to front desk and they quickly moved our room to 416. Room was an upgrade and featured a small kitchen area. Was very nice and large. Room was also very quite and did not hear any road noise or noise from other rooms.

Adequate to get your head down”
We booked a king room and got a double, the room was tiny, you had to walk sideways to get into bed. The room was generally ‘clean’ but very dated. We had to have the window open (in Oct) the whole weekend because the condensation was so bad. Very good location. Good bar on site but slightly overpriced and terrible service on certain days. On the whole, it was an ok hotel, definitely not 4* based on room standard but you get what you pay for (although we didn’t) and this was one of the cheaper hotels in the area.

Room clean but very small. Too noisy. Woken up in the night by other guest returning to rooms. Not much supply of tea/ coffee in room. The lobby area had a machine but when we tried, it was not able to dispense any beverage requiring milk. Reported to someone who was cleaning the area but told there was nothing she could do. Booked room on the day as price was marked as 72% reduction with exceptional rating!

King suite is hugely over sold it’s a room with a kitchen so really not worth the money Reception area and location are good.

Pros hotel reception area looked nice . Cons room was basic not worth the price Got told we can park at back of building To get bags in room and got parking ticket and staff was very un helpful.

Good Location. Clean and tidy”
Stayed here for two nights. Location is perfect if you are going to a game at St James’ Park. It’s literally across the road. Hotel is close to plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants. Short walk to central station and close to many of the cities attractions. Rooms were clean and a decent size. I would happily stay here again.

Newcastle visit”
We have resided at the Sandman signature hotel several times now, but this was our 1st time in an executive king suite. The room was fantastic as usual and we couldn't fault it. The only issue we had was lot of loud door banging from the room below in tye early hours which was reported to night staff and did eventually stop. This aside we will be back to use the hotel again.
