Got there to a notice on the door saying that it's closed with Immediate effect, rang number and they put the phone down on me.

Stayed 2 nights to visit Birmingham City centre (20 minutes by bus just outside the front entrance) and the NEC ( about 50 minutes by car) which was very convenient but our room had a musty smell which was present for our stay even though we had the windows open!!! The hotel didn’t have a restaurant so we had to find others nearby which were within 15 minutes walk and were ok especially the Praza Indian restaurant. The hotel did have a limited amount of parking spaces but we were lucky enough to get parked each day. CV.

Do not bother...”
...unless you are desperate. The rooms are old, dated, with decoration not updated or refreshed in years. Bathroom was disgusting, and the room stand of smoke (despite changing from the original one offered which was even worse)

Staff were nice. Cleaners seemed nice. Wasn’t loud like some other reviews say. It’s fine, but quite run down and definitely not four stars, more like 2 stars. Sticky stains on carpet, dirty marks on walls, wall paper falling off, blood stain on curtain, black mould stains on bathroom ceiling, chair broken. Pillows were really flat as well. Bed was comfy, sheets clean, tv good, tea and coffee in room but no milk. Shower was good. Overall it was okay but I wouldn’t stay there again, rooms really needs refurbishment. Location good, bus stop outside.

Probably the worst stay ever, the building was held together with cellotape, there was no tea making facilities, it all needs a lick of paint,stains on the walls,beyond the reception, this was falling apart

The worst hotel experience ever!!!”
We stayed at the hotel yesterday for the night. Honestly, I was so disappointed and quite upset. My husband had to calm me down; telling me it was only for the night. The room stank of cigarettes. There are signs saying no smoking and £100 fines, so why did it wreak of cigarettes?? There is a B&B at the back, we saw it there whilst looking for parking space then realised we went into wrong car park. Just felt strange having a B&B and another hotel behind Collection. So the room. Shocking!! There was some stain or something on the headboard. There was no lock on the bathroom door and there were holes punched in on the bathroom door. I was afraid to walk bare footed. Wore my heels to get in and out of bed. My husband tells me it's a good job I didn't walk bare footed as that would have made my anxiety levels go even higher. He had to check bed to ensure it was ok. I was literally scared of what we’d find. I could not get myself to check. When we left this morning we were not asked how our stay was; if we were, I would have told the receptionist of my upset and disappointment. Needless to say I did not sleep the whole night. The hotel website says; "It offers stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi and marble bathrooms. There is also a modern bar and restaurant. All rooms are luxurious and spacious. They are equipped with iPod docking stations, flat-screen HD TVs and free tea and coffee making facilities. The elegant bathrooms have a large rain shower, bathrobes and luxury toiletries." We didn't have any of the above apart from the tv and tea/coffee making facilities. Which we did not even dare using. The wifi did not work at all. Honestly we felt embarrassed walking out of the hotel. It was the worst experience ever. They need to stop using false advertising on their website. If it wasn't for the fact that we'd checked in so late, we would have gone elsewhere. Or better still slept in the car! Honestly, how do they justify the prices? How do they justify using false advertising

Bordering on decent”
The hotel appears to be disintegrating. The rooms that we had were missing some things. There was a cup missing from the tea/coffee making section, our wardrobe had a missing door, one of the safes wasn't working. Both rooms didn't have an intercom. We had to lug up our luggage on our own. Availability pf parking was a bright spot though and even the staff was extremely cordial and helpful. However, the Hotel desperately needs upkeep and a good facelift.

Decent location for price”
Spend one night here on trip to Birmingham, hotel was clean and free carparking was a bonus. Room was abut dark but didn't matter as we was out most of the night, staff were friendly and welcoming

Where do I start?? No TV remote and they didn’t have a spare to offer us, broken bathroom handle so you couldn’t close the door, one window was barely hanging on and you couldn’t open or close it, no hangers in the wardrobe and still more, which I cannot be bothered to put down. We were offered another room, but as it was near midnight from travelling all day, we didn’t want to move around as we were tired. I would never stay here again!

Budget Hotel”
Clean and spacious room. Beds comfortable and clean sheets. Bathroom great. Budget hotel so no frills. Noisy so take ear plugs. Overall reasonable for the price!

When I went to check in, the hotel staff told me that my payment had been declined. When I showed them the receipt that proved payment had been made they continued to say they had not received it and that I needed to take it up with my booking agent. Given the same payment and booking had been used for another person in the group, clearly they were being disingenuous. Ultimately, they would not give me a room and I was not prepared to pay twice. They had no control over the rooms as another person in the group was given the key to a room already booked. In summary, the hotel is a shambles and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

TV didn’t work, took over 3 hours for someone to come out to fix it. Plug socket next to bed did not work and couldn’t get any plugs plugged into it. Fridge was broke. Half eaten biscuit on bed No spoons to make tea or coffee with Uncomfortable bed, pillows on the floor and on single bed but none on double bed.

Rude Staff, substandard rooms”
We had to move to 5 different rooms as there was something wrong with each of the previous, including water not draining from bath tub to broken hairdryer, the room being the temperature of a sauna. The so called general manager was rude, check in took forever as there was a discrepency weather ir not the room had been pre paid for. In the end the room was already paid for, the staff do not belive in apologies or anything of the sort.

Lift Breakdown”
The lift broke down during my stay and was not repaired even though I stayed there for 5 days which was very inconvenient as I had many large bags! The wifi on the second floor is very weak too! Other than these, the hotel was recently renovated and very modern and clean.

Friendly staff, facilities need refurbishment”
The staff are friendly and helpful. However, the hotel needs refurnishing - one side of the bed was sunken; one side of the bed-lights are not working; some lights in the toilet are flickering; the wifi in the room was working intermittently.

this was my second visit to the hotel and I would definitely go again, it's great value for money and the rooms are really nice too
