Built in 1681, The White Horse and Griffin Restaurant and Hotel is Whitby's original coaching inn and is situated a stones throw from the foot of the famous Whitby Abbey's 199 steps. The hotel offers high quality accommodation and food in a 338 year old building which is full of history from a bygone era.

Given its location, parking is a short walk away in in a public car park.

The staff were very friendly and professional; they made us feel like we were in a home from home. We had our dog with us and the welcome he received and thoughtful touches for his stay were lovely. ...
An extractor fan in the bathroom would have been helpful to clear the steam.

Average breakfast. Nice room but not worth the price. Old key system meant losing the key was costly for customer and business I suggest an update is needed and the owner should not be so rude about ...

Very old room , we had to buy our own milk as none provided, on arrival staff didn’t know we were coming and our bags were put in residents lounge

location couldn&#39;t be more central and historic
the street was a little noisy but what do you expect in the middle of the town! The seagullls kick off at 5am - but this is Whitby!
