Luxury in Vietnam”
we were looking for somewhere to relax after a long dusty trip, tuan chau island villas did not disappoint, agreat change from vietnams normal hotels extremely clean, generous room size, bath rooms where the best we had seen, little more leg room in front of the toilet would have been nice but after previous bathrooms i'm not complaining. expect to pay more for food and drinks about triple what you have been. their is a free shuttle to the main shops/markets ,one way only and only leaves 3 time a day 2pm 4pm & 6pm and taxis are $7.50us each way. nice walk out to the ferry cost $2 us to catba island which is better than a junk tour of ha long bay. the villas are expansive for vietnam but for a cupple of days luxury well worth it.

Lovely Resort but ghost town in off season”
the staff were very polite and always willing to help. they arranged a late airport transfer from hanoi when our flight to hai phong was cancelled at short notice. the resort was nice and would have had an awesome view of ha long bay if it wasn't for the miserable weather (not hotels fault though). rooms were big and very clean. the restaurant served delicious food and was well priced. the resort itself showed a lot of potential if a bit of money was spent in the upkeep of the park, and in the off season (which is when we traveled) it was like a ghost town, but then again so was the rest of the city. it would be great to see what the resort is like in the summer when it is fully functional. they arranged a tour of the bay by boat for us which was spectacular and very affordable. would we stay here again? definitely.

Nice hotel complex in quiet location with views”
we booked this expecting a fairly low budget experience however we were pleasantly suprised. the food was ok, slightly better than expected and the views and gardens and hotel surrounds were really nice, apart from the partially constructed areas nearby. very handy for the beach resort place next door (which we never used) and for tuan chau marina which is where we got our cruise to halong bay, the beach front was nice although i chose not to swim in the polluted waters (really sad that the bay, a unesco site, is so polluted). the free wifi only seems to work in the main hotel area fyi. pool is nice.

hotel with no soul and no guests”
Tuan Chau Island is an artificial island close to Halong bay. We came in the low season, so there was barely no other guest and we felt very alone and everything seemed very soulless and empty. There is an adventure park on that island, but we haven't been there because we're not into something like that. We cancelled our stay for one night because we felt very bored. each restaurant on that island is extremely expensive. The beach was very polluted and disgusting. The hotel itself was nice, it was nicely decorated and very clean. We had no Wifi in the room, but it was for free in the public areas.

Fantastic setting”
Beautiful hotel in every way, very colonial looking, with massive rooms and beautiful gardens. The pool area is stunning. We were warmly welcomed and treated well by all the staff. Nothing to do at the hotel, but relax and enjoy the scenery, so if you are there for more than a day, you will need to find activities in other areas of the Island. We do not recommend eating in the hotel restaurant, it was possibly the worst food we have been served in a long time and on any trip we have been on recently. There are however lots of restaurants near the night market.

A lovely hotel in the wrong place.”
Not quite sure how to explain this hotel. It was impressive, art deco in style but felt isolated rather than remote and romantic. Maybe just because it was low season? However, if you want the pool, bar and restaurant to yourself then great. Our block was lovely but smelt musty. The maid knocked on our door at 8am to clean our room! We told her to go away. We were away from our room all day, 6hrs, and it hadn't been cleaned when we returned. I had to call for loo rolls and our complimentary bottles of water. There were no staff attending the pool, so you had to go into the reception to order or to get someone to come and take food and drink order. Some of the staff were friendly, one on shift when we arrived and checked out was very good but most were useless. Restaurant food was okay but not fantastic, considering a meal was three times the price of restaurants in Hanoi! The service was useless. Not to the standards of a four star hotel and considering the price. Breakfast finished at 9am, in my opinion too early for a holiday resort. The amusement complex next door was weird but you could get a Pho Bo/Ga soup cheap! The marina beyond the amusement centre is under heavy construction so maybe there will be more bars and eating places within walking distance in the future? There was a free shuttle bus into Ha Long City. This ran three times a day mid afternoon, 5pm and 8pm but you had to make your own way back. This wasn't a problem as there were meter taxis in the city but watch the drivers, ours tried to short change us and probably would have had we not been outside our hotel reception. Personally, I wouldn't bother to go back as there are so many other places to choose from. So, yes the pictures make it look tempting but there's really no need to stop off here with Cat Bah a short boat trip away.

Lovely resort, dead in the off-season ”
Pros: great prices in December, pool, private beach, helpful staff, beautiful room (furthest away but I nice view), hot shower was divine, our tv lost the English channel and they fixed it right away, buffet breakfast one day and a la cart the next but they made anything we asked for. The bed was sooo comfortable, not a rock but not a cloud. Cons: we went in the off-season so many things were closed, no mini bar in the room as advertised, the 24/7 restaurant had hours, though the staff were as helpful as they could, their English wasn't very good.. they told us many things (i.e. the dolphin show, nearby restaurants) were closed and we found out later they weren't! It's far away from Ha Long City/Bai Cha (?) town which was kind of annoying in the off season when we wanted to go to a different restaurant but probably would be ideal in the summer. Basically the place was a goat

Oasis in the country side”
Pleasantly surprised by the grandeur of the resort. My villa housed four rooms, and was sufficiently large for 3 people. Drawbacks were the lack of internet connectivity, leaky ceilings when raining, and distance to main reception building where amenities were located. Travel to and fro main reception building was via a golf buggy. There was also a themed park in the resort which we unfortunately had little time to visit.

Very comfortable hotel and excellent service”
The hotel has a magnificient view of the bay and is right in the middle of the action. The internal transport of golf carts is good but the varying heights of the resorts makes it a wee bit elder unfrienly. The shuttle servive to Halong Town should have a system of delivering and picking up at designated places and times. This will surely make the stay at the resort more pleasant. The Hotel staff shold also be knowledgeable about the best restaurants on the mainland. During the winter season, the place is a little deserted and spooky. I would rate this resort a 6.5 / 10 during the winter months.

A very enjoyable stay”
A very enjoyable stay. The rooms were spacious and some have great views of Halong city and the Bay. We were here a day just before embarking on a cruise of the islands. For a four-star hotel we felt the price of the restaurant was quite reasonable. Breakfast was included and had a great selection of food types. There was also an activities/adventure park next door – however, it didn’t look that great (unless you’re with small children); so we gave that a miss.

Had potentially but didnt quite cut it!”
Ok....so this is the only disappointment of our entire trip. Unfortunately the service was lacking. We were not greeted when we arrived, and had to carry our luggage into the hotel from the cab ourselves. If you have travelled to Vietnam you will know that this is very rare. When we arrived there was not another person in sight. This was ok...however Im including staff members. Our room was neat and tidy, and they had decorated our bed in rose petals, which was a lovely touch as we were honeymooners. This unfortunately was as good as it got! We ventured to the pool, which had an amazing outlook over Halong Bay. Truly a sensational view. We had to go to reception to ask for service for lunch and drinks. Again, unfortunately, every time we wanted service we had to seek it. It was a bit of a ghost town. We tried to make the most of it and played pool in the bar area, and then went to the restaurant for dinner. Again....it was unfortunate!! We were served uncooked beef...which is a bit scary, Im not talking rare, Im talking blue! After we came upon the blue beef, we then found a hair in the meal also. We left after this. It was a real "downer". Also I must mention we were two of four in the 150pax+ restaurant seating area. Hungry back in our room, we contemplated room service, but were really put off. So we sat on our balcony which did have amazing views and took in the scenery. About an hour later we were greeted with three staff members apologising for the restaurant mishap, they had with them a bottle of wine, some Vietnamese cakes and yoghurt. The staff were lovely and were very apologetic. I felt for them at this time, as I think they were very upset that we were disappointed. I must note - we didnt make a scene at the restaurant, just quietly slipped away. But they obviously noticed. Perhaps we just had a "bad day" at the resort...but I need to be honest here. I hope there are other reviews that are the opposite of mine!

Place for quiet holliday”
The hotel is the best place to stay for those who is looking for peace. The villas are quite nice with wonderful view out of the window. Though the rooms are a little old and worn out (example the lights tumbler by the bed was not working and the water in the bathroom was not sinking fast enough). Breakfast includes a variety of international and Asian dishes - enough but not too much. Private beach with white sand is great, so is the swimming pool. Do not count on too much attractions. All you can find on the Island is a entertainment park (dolphin show and laser show are worth watching for everyone, the rest only for children). All other attractions - cruise, restaurants, shops are in the nearest town - Halong (30 min by taxi).

Nice hotel but could be better”
I like many things about this hotel, but it had some things that really annoyed me. bathroom looks beautiful with the steam room jacuzzi bathtub combo but the electronics were broken so only the shower worked, and when i asked to change to another room staff replied "All room broken," I wasn't surprised at all because all hotels in Vietnam have something that is broken. Also the room has a old charm and looks lovely but sheets and the room itself smell like no one stayed in the room for several years. Buffet breakfast was good and dinner in the restaurant was good as well. the beach only 30 yards from my balcony was great also

Large resort hotel”
Nice large resort hotel. Room spacious and well equiped. Our room was a beach front villa with the view of access to the beach. This is OK when high tide otherwise forget it. Privacy is a bit of a concern as other guests help themselves to your veranda outside your room to sit, smoke and make phone calls. Staff are there on arrival and check in otherwise you are left alone. If you are happy to hang around the room and pool then this hotel is OK

Nice place, good value when booked on Agoda”
Spa, bar, restaurant and more on site to meet your needs, prices OK for the setting. Make sure you book through Agoda, price is higher at resort. On the beach, nice rooms, some defects, but fine for local standards. Wifi did not work in room, but fine downstairs in the lobby. Drink specials were a good price.

Enjoyed the stay at the hotel”
I had a good stay at the hotel, the room was clean and big, though the furniture is of low standard as compared to the stars that the resort is ranked.
