Great service and location”
The staff are welcoming, helpful, and friendly and sunshiny. The service is five star. The location is quiet. The neighbourhood is safe. Tricycle drivers are honest. However, the facility is old and some rooms need renovation (e.g aircon is old and noisy and some washroom sink and mirror are really low looks like for kids). There are bugs, which is expected in wooden facilities (this hotel is made of mostly woods) like cabins in north america. The free breakfast is good, but I would have had breakfast somehwere close to the tourist attractions for more fun and experience. Overall though it’s cleaner than some four star hotels in the Philippines, safer, and has excellent staff.

Friendly staff, very quiet place wich was good and the breakfast was a good and they do serve you a lot wich is a plus in my book. Only con was just the bathroom, looked like it wasn’t cleaned from the previous guest because their flip flops were still there and it had a light smell of pee. Free shuttle as well...

The hotel exceeded my expectations. Clean comfortable room, good AC and WiFi. Best sleep I had on my trip. A few steps away from tuk tuk service that will be bring you to town (the ride takes about 5 mins. or less) for only 20 pesos. This is a good place and a great value.

a simple place to stay if you want a quiet environment. though the bed is quite small for two persons, the room is spacious. the complimentary breakfast is ok except for the longanisa. Staffs are accommodating and courteous.

Average hotel, good breakfast”
The hotel and rooms are a bit old and need renovation. The bathroom was new and clean, but we did get strange smells from the sink on the second day of our stay. There are gaps around the AC unit so some mosquitos got into the room. There was old and stained carpetting on the floor and some bugs running around. The beds were big and comfortable, the breakfast was good. They also have free drinking water refills.

We had dinner and when we got it .the chicken was raw .there was ants in the bathroom .and the plughole in the sink was blocked with soap so the water was not going down sink which I had to clean myself

The room we were given was moldy smell, so we have to ask for another option. The next room available was dark and no window. Very disappointed. Was not great at all, except breakfast.

Quiet and spacious ”
Vest Pension House is about a 10-15 minute walk from the downtown area of Tagbilaran city, and about 5 minutes more to the pier where the ferries are. Because of that, it is really quiet even during the day time. You can ride a "tricycle scooter taxi" to the downtown area for 15-20 pesos and about 3 minutes so the location was almost irrelevant. The building itself has dark hardwood floors which is a nice, comfortable change from the tiled floors of most pension houses I've stayed at in the Philippines. The rooms are large and all have a small desk. However, not all rooms are equal! A couple of the rooms in the back of the house, while having windows, have no access to sunlight. I have stayed at Vest Pension House two separate times, and the second time I made sure to get a room with sunlight. I recommend specifically requesting a room with access to sunlight unless that would not bother you. The breakfast is fine. Nothing special, but it is on par with other pension houses. The staff seems friendly, though perhaps occasionally forgetful. I came back to my room once in the mid afternoon and requested a wake up call for 3 pm, but was woken at 3:30. I didn't mind, personally, except that something like this should be mentioned in a review. My other wake up calls have all been on time--they don't have an automated wake up system. I've stayed at two other Pensions in Tagbilaran, and this one is my favorite. Though the breakfast at Daruandy Manor is superior and the ingredients fresher, Vest wins in every other category (size, bed comfort, ambiance, etc.) by a long shot!

I was there before, during and after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake of 10/15/2013. There was no better place to be at any price. It was 45 miles from the epicenter, high enough above sea level to be unreachable by any tsunami. There was widespread damage throughout the island but the Vest suffered only small cracks and a few fallen tiles. The other guests soon left for the evacuation area but I chose to stay and take my chances with the staff and some of the neighbors. It was the right choice. Soon busloads of tourists evacuated from beach resorts started showing up looking for accommodations but the manager had decided no one could be allowed inside for more than a few minutes until a civil engineer and the architect had inspected the building. Of course that was the correct decision on his part. It happened at 8:12AM. I killed time outside the building with the staff and some neighbors. At night it was me, the security guards and a few neighbors. I had my own supply of Clif Bars and bacon jerky which I shared with a few of them, and they insisted on feeding me rice and freshly barbecued chicken. They were friendly and generous. There are no better people anywhere. The electricity was off for only eleven hours and the cell phone service was never interrupted. I know of no price gouging, looting or other unsavory disaster-related activity in the entire city of Tagbilaran. After about 30 hours I found a way to get back to comfort in Cebu. I have stayed there since and would go back anytime I could afford the plane ticket.

Vest Pension House is located in the town of Tagbilaran City and also near the airport. The location is ideal to start your journey in Bohol. Hotel staffs are nice and also cooperative in organizing the tour such as dolphin watching.

Clean, comfortable, unpretentious accommodations”
the receptionist or front desk personnel (estelle) was very nice and helpful. she assisted us in booking our bohol countryside tour, recommending to us a very pleasant and able tour guide and driver (jun). upon our request, she even arranged for our seaport pick-up and panglao tour on a later date even if we were no longer staying in vest pension house. our room had the basic amenities: 2 beds, tv, closet, bathroom with towels, soap, and ample toilet paper. it was clean and spacious enough for our family of 4. in terms of location, the hotel is just 5 minutes away from the airport and about 10 minutes away from the seaport. it is not walking distance to any commercial establishment or attraction, though. with the help of the hotel personnel, you can easily get a tricycle. we paid around p40 for our 15-minute tricycle ride to the island city mall. also, since the hotel is not located on the main road, it is relatively quiet and peaceful. vest has a small cafe/restaurant. except for breakfast which was included in the hotel booking fee, we spent an average of for every meal/snack we took there. a bit expensive for the place and average quality of the food so you're better off having your lunch or dinner in the mall if you're up to it. also, food service is slow; waiting time is at least 30 minutes from the time you place your order.

We like to stay in the Vest Grand Suites. The price is abslutely OK, you can get for less money a good breakfast and the Hotel employees are very friendly and helpful. The next time we will go in this Hotel again.
