pleasantly surprised”
My boyfriend and I stayed at Waterside Resort & Spa because we found an offer on Agoda. Though the reviews suggested it wouldn't be the best place to stay, we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, the lady behind the counter spoke good English and was very helpful, the bathroom was also huge and the all-you-can-eat breakfast was a really nice touch. There was also table-tennis and snooker. It's conveniently close to all the bars, restaurants and shopping and you can rent a bicycle cheaply from the shop next door and cycle to the beach which only takes 10-15 mins. The hotel was definitely not at the top of its game; it had the air of a place that had once been fantastic and was in the process of undergoing improvements, but that wasn't really a problem as we found it so cheap. The shower was disappointing, but when we told the staff this they tried to fix it, and when they couldn't helped us to move rooms. The second room wasn't as nice as the first but was still very spacious and had air-conditioning, a tv and a fridge. Other reviewers were annoyed at the receptionist who was apparently too pushy about using certain tailors in the area; though she did suggest people I didn't find her particularly pushy at all, and to be honest I don't think it was a problem at all as this business-like manner is very common in Vietnam and I barely noticed it. Would definitely recommend, though it has probably seen better days.

Great and attentive staff, Large room and bathroom”
I stayed at this resort for 6 nights all up. I had the garden view room (first level out of two levels) and all rooms have large doors which open onto a large balcony. The bathroom and bedroom were very nice and rustic to Vietman-type decore. Each room had two comfortable double beds and mositoque nets equiped above each bed. I always felt safe walking to and from the hotel even at night. They have lit walkways except across the bridge. I fell sick for a few days and the staff were very helpful to bring me tea when I needed it and recommended a pharmacy. When I had issues with my pick up service to the airport they did their best to contact the transfer service and help me out. I would definately stay here again. Gardens were a little unkept but it gave a more rustic feel to my stay anyway. Thank you Waterside resort.

Beautiful riverside hotel”
I was a little unsure when I first arrived at Waterside, as it is a large collection of villas but there didn't seem to be anyone else around. I was very pleasantly surprised, and even extended my stay as I felt so relaxed there. The rooms are absolutely huge, with comfy beds, pretty lighting and a large balcony (if you pick a river view). The air con in my room didn't actually work but it was so light and airy that it didnt matter. The shower was hot with great water pressure (not to be taken for granted!). I opted for the Vietnamese options at breakfast and was very impressed most days - you get a lot for what you're paying. The best thing about the hotel for me was the staff - very friendly, always willing to help out with any requests (and very patient teachers, helping me improve my Vietnamese!). The hotel would definitely benefit from being a bit busier, as they have some beautiful communal spaces but that being said, it was lovely to have some peace and quiet (aside from the cockerels and the boats going by!). I would certainly return and would recommend it to friends.

Clean, central hotel, with helpful staff”
Staff here were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quite nice. Good value if booking with discount. Provided breakfast was fairly average, but not too bad considering it was free. The hotel is just over the 2nd bridge, so is about 200m from the end of the main strip in Hoi An. As a side note Hoi An is a must do if you are in Vietnam- excellent food, history, shopping/ tailors, and nearby beach and ancient ruins.

Cheap, friendly resort”
The Waterside was a little run-down, maybe due to low season. There weren't many guests there so there wasn't much 'atmosphere'. However, for about $20 per night we had an enormous room with huge bathroom, unlimited fresh breakfast every day, and were just two minutes into the main shopping areas. The staff helped us to book a few things and were always very friendly and helpful - we were happy with our stay.

Big room. Quiet. Good Location. ”
Prompt service. Always ready to help. Did my laundry here, clothes smells really awesome. Laundry wasn't delivered to my room that supposedly afternoon but only managed to deliver after check out time. Was worried I couldn't get my laundry on time as I have a bus to catch. However, staff responded to the situation quickly, they called in to laundry service, and returned my clothes in no time. Overall a good experience in Waterside hotel.

Good Quality to Stay”
I would recommend this hotel to others because this hotel is quite new, and they need more customer to have better service (and if you are not afraid of walking since it's not near to Ancient district). The hotel did not have many people to stay so the staff was not usually at the counter to assist customers. On the day we arrived, we came at 9pm and there was absolutely no one in the hotel to ask. We had to go out and asked the bartender at the entrance to call the receptionist back to duty. Lighting condition at the reception during the night was very dim. Location is not so good because it's not near to the center of Hoi An. However, it's nearer to some places selling cuisine in Cam Nam so you can try in that side. The staff is not so friendly, but the architect of the place is nice.

A fine hotel in a good location.”
It was a fine place to stay with a lot of potential to be really great. A very low key place, but in a great location just over the bridge. Not a super social hotel but that was fine. They don't have any signage that says Waterside which makes it a bit if a mission to find at first.

Quiet, affordable resort with lovely staff”
The resort is a little bit run down, as if it was once very grand but has gotten fairly shabby around the edges. This could be just in low season, perhaps it gets more lively in high season. In saying that, we only paid about $20 per night for an enormous room with enormous bathroom, a few minutes walk over the bridge to the centre of Old Town, and a huge breakfast (choose anything from the menu, it's unlimited.....). For what we paid, we were very happy with our stay - we extended our stay by another two nights.

Great place, but it has potential to be better”
The hotel is great. As they said us, the oner is new and they are trying step by step to recover it after the floods of november 2013. It is ok now (jan 2014) but it has so much potential, that with a little bit of effort by them, it would become a reference in hoi an. The location for us is perfect, a lttle bit out of city center but in less than 5 minutes walk you are there. Be careful with the bugs, because the big gardens bring them. The quality - price ratio was unbeatable.

Nice and quiet hotel - close to the city”
If you want to visit Hoi An without being in the middle of the horrible shopping areas, then come to this side of the river and to this hotel! Hoi An is beautiful but it is all about shopping. So we left the town earlier than planned.

Nice little town for eating and relaxing”
I stayed there four nights in garden view villa. Beware with those motorbike taxis at the bus station. They will overprise your lift. Make sure that you have an official driver. It was only three minutes walk to the market , coffeeshops and restaurants from the hotell. I rent a bicykle and drove to the beac in 20 minutes. Hotell is quiet but there is many dogs running all around. Electricity brake down couple times. Little problems with aircon. Sometimes it didn't work. You have to push the button many times. Breakfast was diverse fx yoghurt, baguette, soup, fruits, cake, eggs...You can have all menu if you want.

Very friendly staff, excellent location!”
We loved the location, new ownership will be installing a pool by September, excellent English skills on front desk and very helpful. would stay here again. for sure! Next door to hotel is Mr. Guai who rents motorbikes and cycles for 3-7 dollars, and purchases gas from a very old poor lady next door to help her make an income. Mr. Guai has excellent English also! See him for your bike or motorbike rental, his wife also does laundry for 1$ per kilo, hotels charge 2$ per. We loved this place!

Older and Tired, but worth the $45 / night.”
NOTE: This resort is not called Waterside. There are no signs at all saying Waterside. We spent over half an hour in a taxi searching for it. (Thank goodness taxis are cheap). The taxi driver stopped and asked several people to no avail. I eventually opened my IPad and tracked it on maps. Walked into a resort with a different name where I thought it was on maps and asked if they knew Waterside.

It wasn't what we expected - but good location”
This hotel was previously known as Vietnam Village resort. It was very quiet. In a good location for the price. The room was budget only 1 or 2 stars but comfortable. The complex is quite run down and a little sad. Breakfast was good. The staff were nice. Great place to rent bikes next door at Mr Guans.

Good location, hotel needs help”
The hotel was not well maintained. The location is excellent and only a short walk to central Hoi An, but the facility seemed to be in transition, not fully utilized, and in some disrepair.

Warehouse, not Hotel”
It was quite hard for me to find this resort. Coz I couldn't find the sign board or resort name. The guard had no idea which resort I asked, not until I saw pics of their room hanging on advertising board. So I saw the old name of this place instead. Breakfast was good enough eventhough quite not enough. Except the villas with clients room, I found the rest of the resort was like a huge warehouse, couldn't see 70% of the resort shown on Map including swimming pool coz they're under construction. I don't recommend this resort until they finish their construction which I don't know when.

very close to the old city”
it was quite weird...., the staff is friendly, the rooms are very big and clean. it's located very close to the old city, but away from the crowd and the noise. for the low price its fine. the weird thing its that it looked abandoned.... huge garden with tall grass, like sometime it was great but not now. and the reception/ breakfast area looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years.... covered in dust and spiderwebs. good budget accomodation.... not very romantic for a couple. beware of wedding season! weddings are extremely loud.... but end early.
