Beachfront with views to die for. Lovely room with facilities as described. Quiet and pleasant for an off season break. Bed was comfortable and it was lovely to wake up to the waves in the background.

Nice ocean views and large rooms ”
We stayed at this hotel for one night during our New Zealand travels. The absolute best thing about this hotel is the nice balconies with beautiful ocean views. It was in a good location, only a few minutes drive to downtown and restaurants, and only a few steps outside to a beach walkway. Our room was large, roomy, comfortable, and clean, but seemed a little “worn” and in need of updating. We liked that we had a mini-kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, appliances, dishes, and basic cookware. The bed was comfortable, and the WiFi was fairly good. The smart TV included Netflix. The nightly room rate seemed a little high to us considering the overall lack of other amenities and in comparison to other similar or higher quality hotels that we have stayed at in New Zealand, but in comparison to other hotels in the Gisborne area, it seemed fair. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The only “negative” about our room was the vented skylights in the kitchen and bathroom. It was windy, rainy, and cool the night we stayed there, and the wind noise as well as the drafty feel of the room was unexpected. We would possibly stay here again for a short stay in warmer weather to enjoy the ocean views.

Great location, right on the seafront. The wifi is the only slightly annoying thing as you only get a voucher for so much and if it runs out you need to go back to the office to get more. The rooms are recently refurbished, super clean and comfortable. highly recommend.

This motel is right on the beach, clean, comfortable, good value, but it's the little touches that make this motel worthy of a return visit. The big tubs of petunia flowers at the entrance, the cushions on the outdoor chairs, the little container of biscuits to have with your cuppa, easy use of laundry facilities, a fabulous hot shower etc. A great place to stay.
