Clean hotel with great character to it!”
Stayed at the Annex as it seems larger and newer in the photos compared to the other rooms in the main building. It was really really clean, and came with both a shower and a bath tub. The floors of the toilet were heated as well! Could see a corner of Windermere lake from the the window (stayed on the 1st floor, not on the ground floor rooms below), and was nice to put make up while enjoying the view. The rooms in the main building might have more character to them. The breakfast spread was awesome (sausages, scrambled eggs, hashbrown, beans could make an english breakfast (sad that they didn’t have any mushrooms and tomatoes), bread spread (white/ brown bread to toast on the spot, really nice crossant, muffins), fruits (banana, apple), variety of cereals, drinks (coffee and hot chocolate machine, variety of twinnings tea, milk, orange and apple juice). Theres an outdoor life-sized chess set in the garden at the front of the hotel, and a heated swimming pool below the dining room as well! Dog-friendly as well! Saw some amenities provided like water bowls by the main entrance and dog towels provided! Glad to see the friendly pooches during breakfast! Really nice and friendly staff that was helpful! Downsides: In-room telephone that couldn’t call to the reception, no toothbrush and toothpaste provided, no hand-wash soap by the sink (had to squeeze some self-brought soap into a plastic cup for our daily handwashing). All in all, will recommend and be back in the future!

Superior double annex room”
Brilliant location wether your kayaking Windermere or exploring areas around such as Grasmere, Keswick and Buttermere etc. This room we had was brilliant I'd like to book this again for a full week to use as a base of operations to explore the lake District and go on some green lanes too

Beautiful ”
This hotel was amazing! The staff were lovely and accommodating. Breakfast was good with quick and efficient service! The hotels location is absolutely wonderful with buses running to nearby villages and towns. A bit of a walk to Bowness but amazing views! As soon as you leave the hotel driveway there is a stunning view to watch the sunset! The rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious for the price. Will definitely be booking again!

Amazing little find”
First time in the lakes and this hotel cudnt be in a better location. We also took our dog Ralph and he was greeted with a warm welcome just like we where. Right next to all the main attractions. We are going to book to go back in the next couple of weeks. The hotel itself is old so there is some ware and tear but it’s clean and the room was a good size. Defo book up if you can.

The Room was big enough to move around especially with a toddler. Heated swimming pool and near the lake too. Friendly and accomodating staff.

Basic but adequate ”
All areas very tired and need updating, although clean. We took our dog so didn’t expect our room to be perfect. Great location and within walking distance to local attractions. Would probably stay again if we were in the area.

Hotel was very warm but a bit rundown in places and a damp smell in the rooms . Our room had the hot water tank running all night so l couldn’t sleep ! Food was ok on Friday night

Lovely friendly staff, hotel needs updating but was clean, food was same menu every evening but was tasty and hot food , beds was comfortable with nice clean bedding on , nothing was to much trouble for staff
