Great Location, Meals and Onsen”
We bought a package that included dinner, breakfast and admission to Yunessun. It was a great value and a very pleasant stay. The staff were superb and the meals were excellent. We went mid-week and had most of the hotel to ourselves. The restaurant manager and Nepalese waitress were especially kind and helpful. They explained our meals to us in English and provided impeccable service.

Good value with on-site indoor pool and onsen”
A little dated, but good value for Hakone, which is in general a more expensive place around Kanto area for vacationing. Decent size room with two single western style beds, and two futons that you'll have to lay yourself on the tatami area. Tried to reserve for meal directly with the hotel a week before our stay, but it was already full. There are two onsen for each gender, but their western style "spa" is larger with several pools and tubs than their Japanese style onsen, though both use onsen water. Guests can also use the on site indoor swimming pool for free, but you'll have to bring your own or rent swimming cap. The hotel gives you coupon for yunessun next door which includes free towel rental (normally you'll have to pay extra for towels at yunessun). There's a nice walking trail connecting the hotel to yunessun.

Go To Travel Choice”
Had it not been for the savings of the Go To travel campaign, I would have chosen a different accommodation. Overall, Wisterian was good. The level of English spoken is non-existent so use Google Translate at your peril. The facilities are dated but the rooms are kept clean, larger rooms than you would see in Japan and the views are superb. I was taken aback though by the advance notice required to eat at the hotel—two days! I laughed hysterically as this means I wouldn’t be able to eat there during my two-night stay. Either the restaurant is a well sought after Michelin-rated gem or they would rather not have me use my GoTo travel coupons there. No real reason was given for this procedure but I was accommodated after a short consultation with the manager. A ten minute walk to a 7/11 is the only economical option for food. Be prepared to walk up the hill to return. It is most certainly helpful that there is a free shuttle bus service between the hotel and Gora Station. I used this to connect with the main transportation links around Hakone. The sauna and pool were not opened during my stay which was a real let down but the onsen was available for use. Certainly better than most but for the cost it could be better appointed.

Nice but can be a bit better”
I really liked this hotel because of the traditional Japanese design and the service. However, I did find that the hotel room I got was a bit old and out-dated. Even though its size was ideal for the 3 of us, I thought it was probably one of the oldest rooms in the property. If ever I do come back, I'll select a different kind of room instead. With regards to the location, it is near a 7/11 and it has free shuttle service going to the busier areas of Hakone. There is also a bus stop located right across the hotel so going around is not a problem.

Great value package overall”
Traveled as couple. The overall package was great. We got 2 free Yunessun tickets with free towel/gown rentals from the theme onsen as well. (worth ~9000 Yen). Also got Japanese style breakfast for 2. The overall price was ~$250 CAD. The hotel is dated. No surprise given how long it has been there. Spacious room, clean inside. We got the standard twin bed room with tatami area. We arrived at 8pm, no bus was running directly to the hotel front entrance anymore. We took bus to Yunessun front door, walked about 10 minutes. (there is a short cut about 5 min walk, but unless you have been to the hotel, you wouldn't be able to find it on your own). Great value for the stay. Would recommend to friend.

Staff are unhelpful; location is outside Gora; not so convenient”
We reached 2 stations after Gora at almost 5 pm & unable to locate the hotel. We called hotel for help & was told to take taxi there & they did nt let us know we can catch the hotel free shuttle at Gora to the hotel. An English speaking staff also agreed to help us get a taxi if we could not get one. As they told us there is no restaurant near by & too late to order food at their restaurant; we had to travel 2 stops back to Gora & eat there first. We tried to get taxi to hotel after dinner but could not get a taxi & called again at 7.05 pm. This time they said shuttle service is over (last pickup at 7pm) & unable to help us call a taxi to pick us up at Gora. We were told to wait in the cold and with our luggage. It was a very unpleasant experience for us. Fortunately the room was big and comfortable. We suggest to stay at Gora instead which is more convenient as it is the starting point for cable car & the tozan train to sight-seeing and to Odawara & back to Shinjuku

It was in a great location since we were going to Yunnesun. Old but good bed with tadami area ”
Wish they had some food sales(instant ramen) or food vending machine because they only served few items with reservation which non of us preferred instead, we ate at Yunnesun. Other than that, hotel is great with free public bath & swimming pool and awesome view from the wide window wall!

quiet hotel”
we enjoyed our stay there - the onsen and the swimming pool, the only downside is that for any meal it is rather a distance to walk as not much is near by.

Location not accessible and not near restaurants still open at night”
The unit provided seem more like a home residence with bathtub, living room and kitchenette mini. However, the location is really not accessible and has to climb slope and some distance from bus stop. It is also not near any restaurants that open late for dinner

best choice for my family”
It is highly recommended for family travelers traveling in the Hakone area. It was expensive to use it with children to stay at a ryokan, and it was difficult for children to enjoy the hot springs, so I had a lot of worries. However, I found out about Yunetssan Onsen Water Park, and I liked the location where the accommodation is a 5-minute walk from Yunetssan. There was also a large swimming pool in the hotel, so I was able to use the swimming pool in the evening. The facility was old, but it was well managed and the room size was very large, so it was convenient. However, it was very inconvenient because the front desk staff couldn't communicate in English. Be sure to pay for the accommodation that includes the Yunetssan pass. It's much cheaper than buying a separate ticket to Yunetssan.
