    decent place just make sure to take ID for all travellers otherwise will be rejected.”

    Fantastic!”

    We were a group of 3 girls looking for a base to explore the lakes including scaling Scafell Pike. It couldn't have been more perfectly located and we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to see not only a self catering kitchen but also a bar and restaurant serving fantastic home cooked meals at bargain prices which was just what we needed after a long day walking! The breakfast was also plentiful, hot and well cooked. The staff were all absolutely fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. Special thanks to Sam who went above and beyond to help us and others during out stay. Thanks so much for a fantastic trip.

    Great for travellers / needs an update”

    Loo doors would barely reopen leaving you wondering if you’d become trapped. Needs new beds as these are EXHAUSTED!! Great location and facilities.

    Lovely setting, however the staff really need to be trained more ”

    We love Borrowdale and have visited a few times, however in the past we have camped. The room was clean and had better facilities out of the 3 hostels we have stayed at this week. However, the staff didn't know what they were doing, there was no ales on or any pumps working, the desk was unorganized and people were being told it was a 30-40 minute wait to check in (only myself and another lady waiting) The man on the desk couldn't use the system and it all seemed very unorganized and unprofessional. The breakfast wasn't nice at all and it was just a shame really, we will go back but it will be on a self catering basis and hopefully the desk and staff know what they are doing

    beautiful setting for a weekend in the fells”

    clean and cosy hostel with everything you need. WiFi was down at the time of my stay but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing - we kept ourselves entertained in the hostels bar and played a few board games they have to lend. The kitchen was well equipped so food prep was easy. We didn't buy food from their menu, but it did look good! This hostel is set within a beautiful setting - surrounded by Hills with a lovely stream on the doorstep, plenty of walks in the area, stunning views from our room, and perfect for star gazing on a clear night. It's also only a short drive into Keswick and Derwent water. Child friendly, dog friendly, suitable for groups and perfect for couples - I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking to spend a few days in the hills.
