the hostel is quite far from the downtown,but it worth it. i recommend not to bring to heavy baggage and if you have to, use the bus or taxi

Beautiful view”
Country Road Youth Hostel is a bit out of Yufuin, but once you arrive you are rewarded with amazing views of Yufuin below. The dorm was clean and comfortable and the hot spring was an added bonus. I opted to eat dinner there, and it was tasty and filling. I walked, but they do offer a one-time shuttle to and from the JR station. The owners were friendly, nice and spoke English. Compared to what places cost in Yufuin, this hostel is a good deal!

It was very very impressive”
Really nice service, and people can speak English very well so you don't have to worry about language problem if you can speak English. They have a really nice mountain view. There is a Fireflies tour in the night and that was most amazing exprience in my life. And they also brought visitors to Yufuin festival because the date I visited was the 'festival night'. (7/20). and I heard they have a program climbing up the mountain or..something like that...... I couldn't join, but you should ask about that if you are interested (I heard Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel has a homepage. you can visit this homepage). I met many nice people and had so much fun in this place. Thank you so much to the people who were in this youth hostel the night I visited.

Endure the short hike, it’s worth it”
From Yufuin station you could take a bus to Takemoto bus stop, then take a hike to the hostel. Taxi is also recommended if you’re in a group. Don’t worry, the following day the host, can send you to the bus station or the train station. Anyway the hostel is clean and the cheapest you could get in Yufuin despite the location. The host is very friendly and can speak English well. The dinner and breakfast is also well done and worth the price. The onsen is open 24 hours, so you can take your bath at your own leisure. Not much to do at night but the host brings you out for a short walk which was fun. Lovely accomodation and definitely recommended.

Enjoyable stay! ”
It was one of my favourite places to stay through out Japan. The room is very clean and tidy. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They’ll tell you everything very clearly at the counter when you check in, i.e the dinner time, when to check out…etc. The dinner was very delicious ( which you have to order in advance ) They located half way up a mountain but it’s very easy to get there by taxi (only 5 mins and it’s not expensive only around 8xx yen ). Really nice mountain view especially during sunset. The hot spring is really nice as well. I also joined the free night tour with my roommate and it was just memorable :) They will drive you to the JR station from the hostel every morning @ 8:20a.m Given the affordable price, I will definitely stay here again if I am back to yufuin and I would like to recommend this hostel to all of you :)

Perfect. Just perfect”
I came in the summer, not a peak time to visit Yufuin. There's not much people staying so the place is kinda relax. I ordered dinner and breakfast, which were awesome! It's a mixed of traditional Japanese & western dishes. The location of the hostel is very scenic both in the morning and at night. Ryo was so helpful and he likes to make everyone's stay very memorable. And the onsen was perfect and relaxing too. It's not near the Yufuin town proper but the travel is worth it.

i think there is just 2 backpackers in Yufuin. so it's really hard to stay there if you are alone. it doesn't matter if you are over 2 people, you have chance to choose the hostel which u want. Anyway i had booked this hostel before arrived. i really appreciated to being at the hostel. it's comfortable and cozy and there is little spa. so you can spa when you want. In the dormitory there is a Tv, a couch with small table and locker. the staffs of this hostel are kind. if u stay there for a long time, u can get some help for making a plan in Yufuin from the hostel staff. he will recommend some places for you! :-)

This hostel should be 'The best kept secret'. ”
what an amazing place with wonderful food which wouldn't have been out of place in Kyoto. It is half way up a mountain,above the town so you need to take a taxi from the station (not expensive). The hosts are kind and friendly and organise occasional evening activities; ours was a trip to a shrine in the dark...memorable. the Japanese style bathroom arrangements work well and the bathrooms are clean. Be prepared to feel emotional when the hosts sing 'Country Road' when you leave.

Comfortable Stay at reasonable Price and Good Host”
Enjoy my stay at the hostel though i walk all the way up to hostel, the road is quite steep and uphill and recommend taking a cab after walking through the small town at Yufuin JR Station. I took up the option and pay for my dinner and breakfast and it's very delicious. (roughly 1750 yen). There's free transport to JR station from Hostel @ 820am. Nice Onsen and host bring me for a indoor soccer games and enjoy the companion with other fellow japanese

Good place and nice host. The place is nice view. Suitable for those who want to be quiet and rest. There far from Yufuin center but don't worry, in the center have a Taxi for you. I'll back.

better tell the staff what time u need to drop off the luggage before check in because the owner sometime will go out buy something ... Don't miss the dinner and breakfast !!! Just make order with the staff coz the food so warming my heart and too delicious ! Only spend 1750 yen for my dinner and breakfast !!! Cheaper and too Delicous for me !!! That is moauntain area and the transport to here also reasonable price !!! They have short cut road can go down faster from the moauntain and link with the shooping side area at the downtown!!! It fun and have good experience in here !!! Sure will stay here again with my friend !!!

Location is not a problem because you wont find very attraction or activity in Yufuyin town at night”
Excellent Dinner and Good Breafast. Very Clean and cosy hostel. Run with HEART. Please dont forget to join the night activities that not ever offered by other accommodation. The farewell just got my goose pumps. Please stay in this hostel and you will understand hows my feeling. Don't forget to visit their website and get more information. Clean hostel with helpful staffs”
The hostel is located far away from Yufuin train station. Located up in the mountain. We rented a car so it was not a problem for us but might be less convenient for travellers who need to use the public transportation. View from our room was very nice, overlooking Yufuin town. They have a living room where you can interact with other travellers.

The location is bit far from the Yufuin Station and the town. Probably it suitable who drives and you will be able to find out the location where is it. The overall environment is nice and clean with a free public bath, not to mention about drinks are snacks are also free as well.

definitely the best hostel experience so far! nice meal, nice onsen, extraordinarily nice hosting family the arrangement for evening activities is fluffy location-vise, it's an uphill walking from the station but they would arrange transportation when the bus is off at weekend. and you could walk past some quality onsens on the way up if you do not carry much luggage

Very Nice Host, Great Experience with Onsen”
Although it is a little bit far away from City Center, it is very worth to stay at this hostel. The host, Ryo and his family is very nice; the dinner & lunch is very delicious, the Onsen is also good. Ryo arranged the walking activitity and drum performance presented by his son for us. Overall, it is very nice experience and I love to come back next time.

Home like Japanese hostel”
Nice and tidy place.Though a bit far from traditional Yufuin station, quiet and lovely. The home made dinner and breakfast are exculded from accommodation fee, but highly recommended.
