The location is good. The lake Kinrin is near the hotel (within 5 minutes of walk). The Japanese dinner and breakfast were delicate. The staffs were helpful and nice. The room was clean and spacious, with personal onsen. There were also several public onsen. I would definitely recommend this hotel to travellers.

Friendly Staff, Excellent Room, Dinner and Service”
The room is very large for just one person. There is a bedroom/dining area, then there is also a living room area. The bathroom has a regular shower area, which is really large, then there is the outdoor onsen tub. The tub area is covered with wood/bamboo screen, so you can't really see the view, but right outside was some parking lot, so I was just watching the little garden in my guestroom. The public bath is really nice. The hotel is very pretty, right outside my room was the garden. With the maple leaf season, it was a beautiful view. The dinner was really nice, but also every dish was a very large portion. By the last two dishes, I could barely finish them. The girl who took care of me during the stay was very friendly. Although she spoke very little English, she tried to introduce everything to me and make conversations with me during dinner. Rest of the staff was also professional and caring.

The staff could speak a little bit of English and they were very helpful, allowing me to quickly familiarize myself with the facilities. The welcome snack, dinner and breakfast were fantastic, the lady was patient in introducing each dish. I was able to enjoy a high-quality meal in my own room. Besides, I had my own Onsen in my room which allowed me to relax before sleeping and waking up in the morning.

Excellent service and food! Staff is very helpful and thoughtful! The outdoor hot spring inside our room is great! The heating in my room is sufficient, except for the toilet and bathroom. Though facilities are a bit old, they are very clean and tidy. Strongly recommend Yufuin Santoukan to those who have never tried Japanese onsen hotel before! Trust me it is value for money!

Yufuin is a lovelier place to stay than nearby Beppu. This onsen ryokan offers two bathing facilities (both with an indoor onsen and outdoor rotenburo) and large, traditional Japanese-style tatami rooms. The staff were lovely.

He came to pick us up right away even though we arrived at the station earlier than we told before. I think the reason why the hotel asked for the gender is to prepare a dress that fits the gender. So When arrived the room, we could feel that the room was ready for us. It was good from this careful concern. The staff, who were assigned us, combined with humor and kindness, treated us with a smile all the time. All the staff in Yufuin Santoukan were kind. Thank you very much. In the dinner, because I couldn't eat raw food, she changed it to cooked food for me! Even after checkout, he took us back to Yufuin Station. Just there were small drawbacks. It was very embarrassing to see a live mouse in an open-air hot spring in 金鱗の湯 and the bottom of the bath in 妃泉の湯 was slanted enough to fall down when entering, but there was no warning sign. Despite these shortcomings, the memory in Santoukan is full of good memories. Thank you for making and serving us a great experience.

Santoukan is well appointed being a few minutes walk to the central village & primary market street. Rooms with a private Onsen vary in size-it's important to ensure your desired room choice matches the photo shown on the website. The Spring water is crystal clear & staff very attentive. The traditional dinner & breakfast is excellent--should you be hesitant to try as a first experience, please be assured you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful stay”
Super convenient location: this onsen ryokan (hot spring hotel) is located in a quite corner right next to the popular shopping street, the beautiful Kinrin Lake, and the famous hot pot rice restaurant "Yufumabushishin". Excellent service: Offer free transportation between Yufuin JR/bus station. Staff is super polite and helpful. The young lady serving us speaks fluent English. Dinner and breakfast are included and are served inside your room. Food is decent and tasty. Nice amenities: Room is spacious (one living room and one bedroom/dining room). Bathroom and toilet included in the room. Together with its adjacent sister ryokan, there are 4 onsens available for the hotel guests. No view at onsens but still very quiet and comfortable.

An exceptional hotel for an exceptional place”
It is also the details, good details! I would have given the rating of 6-Star if there is such thing! Food was decadent (“8 course meal”beautifully plated, if I counted right), cannot be better! staff was super polite and friendly, the tatami room was spacious, nicely and comforting layout, amenities was well thought out, hot spring facilities was just wonderful - 2 tubs, each has insider and outdoor ones. The “hotel” was about 25 mins walk away. The hotel staff picked us up in no time after we call them(they also dropped us off after). Yufuin is just a lovely place to stroll and shop. We really enjoyed the walk toward the bus station after dropped off the luggage. It is like 1 min walk away from the 金鱗 Kinlin Lake. All and all, it is just a lovely trip and wonderful stay! Nothing I could even criticize on maybe if I have to pick on one thing, it would be no clock in the hot spring place but maybe it is all intentional to forget about time! Great Value / delicious dinner + breakfast ”
loved this place. I booked a room with private bath. Breakfast and Dinner were great - presentation is seriously michelin level. Pick up service was a nice complimentary bonus, and the staff are so kind and welcoming. My mother and I thoroughly loved this place and plan on coming back on our next visit to yufuin. Highly recommend! This is seriously a great value, considering the quality of the room, service, and food you are getting.

Excellent Japanese Roykan ”
Compared to the standard hotel, the Japanese Ryokan is rather expensive accommodation. However, it is acceptable since the hotel service is excellent and the hotel is located at the hot spring point. The existence of personal hot spring outdoor bath is one of the main reasons for me to choose this hotel. At Yufuin province, I may recommend this hotel.
