Exceptional”
Our host was very kind and friendly. He gave us a ride to and from the train station and tried his best to communicate with us using Google Translate although he did not really speak English. The cottage was clean, and the location was perfect for enjoying nature and fresh air. (We were lucky enough to see deer too!) The dinner and breakfast served were good as well. As for the dinner, they prepared all the ingredients in advance and left the cooking up to us. Still we were satisfied as the cooking process was simple, and we could eat whenever we wanted to. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Yufuin Tsukahara Kogen Cottage Donguri.

Great Experience”
We love the different experience of staying in a cottage in the forest. The cottage is spacious and has an attached Japanese style bath house whereby our whole family can go in together. There were extra futon bedding sets provided. We tried their breakfast for one day and it is located in another nearby cottage, their homemade buns were so delicious. Very warm hospitality from the owner too. Location which is about 10 mins away from Yufuin town, but we rented a car so it's not an issue to us.

everything about the cottage itself was amazing. it’s super cosy, bed was very comfortable, and the surroundings were so beautiful. if you don’t drive, the owner will pick you up from the station and back again to town when you leave, otherwise it’s a short taxi ride from yufuin. the owners, a very sweet father-son duo, prepared a fabulous hotpot dinner for us (there’s nothing in the vicinity) or you can entirely self-cater. it was a truly unique experience and i couldn’t recommend it more.

The cottage was a bit difficult to find. Once found, we were received by a friendly gentleman and given welcome drinks, chocolates and mochi. He explained about the facilities of the cottage and made us feel welcomed. The cottage itself was big and clean. Our only discomfort was the constant presence of bugs in the cottage, but I suppose this is to be expected when living in a cottage in the forest.

if time is allowed, stay for at least few days, excellent taste of a japanese home style in country side. kitchen facilities are quite good, better with more frequent cleaning. customer service is good we cannot locate ourselves to get the exact direction to the cottage, while the staff has been driving around to look for us. with nice onsen house. warm for family bath

There included all kitchenware, microwave, gas gills, you can enjoy cooking with family. But the point this you need to prepare all the foods before you coming here. Since near the hotel is nothing, even supermarket you will need to drive to the downtown. The staff are very very nice, English speak ok. Big bath room and have a private outside area with a camp table. I recommend for family or 4-5 peoples traveller group. It will have fun within the house.

if you are afraid of insects, I suggest to think about it again. the house is great and facilities are well kept. kitchen are equipped with old style amenities but still in good status. staffs are great and very responsible. If you like nature, highly recommend.
