Exceptional staff with great service”
We felt very welcome and the staff took a lot of time for us. The tatami room was very clean and they even made the bed for us when we had our Kaiseki dinner. Both breakfast and dinner was very delicious and special and more than enough! We didn’t leave hungry, it was good value for money. The private onsen are very nice but be aware that they are not always free. We enjoyed the tv with youtube and screening.

Wonderful and beautiful ryokan in Yufuin”
Was scouting for a nice ryokan to celebrate my wife’s birthday in Yufuin. Chanced upon it as I was reading reviews and we are glad to have chosen this ryokan. The ryokan offers pickup from the Yufuin station. We just had to make a call from the public phone at the station and the driver picked us up in 10mins. It was definitely a beautiful hotel with very courteous staff welcoming us. The staff could speak basic English and it was definitely sufficient for us to communicate with them. For more complex requests, we had to speak Japanese with them. All in all we are very happy with their service. The welcome drink was great as they placed us facing mount Yufu. It was really beautiful. We wrote in to request for a room with a view and they were very accommodating to arrange it for us (with a small fee). We were indeed very pleased with the room as the view we had the next morning was so good with a clear sky. Dinner was a typical kaiseki, where waves of beautiful and tasty food kept coming in courses for us to savour and enjoy. It was definitely one of our better kaiseki’s that we have had over the years visiting all around Japan. The highlight of the stay was definitely the onsen where they had 2 private baths (available at first come first served basis) which was truly gorgeous. There was also a sitting/viewing area outside of the onsen area. Loved this ryokan and would definitely come back again.

good”
It was very satisfying. It's got shampoo, rinse, and body wash. The food was delicious, too. The children's yukata are so cute. All the employees were kind. I want to visit again.

Wonderful Stay”
The ryokan offered delicious food for both dinner and breakfast and the dining area has a pleasant view of Mount Yufu. The hotel staff were polite and friendly. The place is situated further away from the main area of the town but pick-up service can be arranged upon arrival at Yufuin station by call (check their website). The ryokan have both private and public onsen, which we have enjoyed. Soaking in the outdoor bath was amazing. The availability of the private onsen can be seen through the TV screen in the room, which is rather convenient. It was an enjoyable stay.

A nice ryokan with fine kaiseiki dinner, lovely onsen facility and great service mind”
We stayed for 2 nights - I, my wife and our 3-year old girl are very happy with everything - the room may be a bit small with no shower/bath in room (only wash basin and toilet) but we can see great mountain view and my daughter loves wearing yukata and play in the room. The futons are nice, clean and comfortable. The meals were all excellent and we can feel how ingredients were carefully selected and prepared - even the rice looks and tastes really good, the raw fish and raw chicken are fresh, the Oita wagyu beef (first night dinner was yakiniku style, second night was shabu shabu style) is premium quality. Children dinner set was also big portion and worth paying for. The onsen has both public area (separate room for men and women) and the 2 private rooms - this is special because we could enjoy bathing together as a family and also enjoy the mountain view from the bath. Moreover, it was not too busy and we used the onsen 3 or 4 times during the 2 night stay here.

Excellent stay”
Just something to take note if you don’t take beef/horse, please inform front desk staff upfront because we were served beef during our kaiseki dinner, and they weren’t flexible enough in helping us swap the beef with other options. In the end, we have to purchase chicken meat in addition.

Friendly and Warm Customer Service”
In addition to hot spring and breakfast/dinner set included, they try to offer some musical performance in their hotel. With the selection of Western bedroom type, there are private bathroom. The food are nice and the staff are very helpful. There are free shuttle bus arrangement upon calling at the station. And there are 2 private hot spring section that can be shared to use. So far, it was a very nice stay =)

Great onsen (private & public), service is exceptional ”
We have a good stay at this ryokan, location is a bit further from station but since we drive, it wasn’t issue for us. Staff are very friendly and helpful. View of mt.yufu from dining room and onsen are pretty amazing. Dinner is also very good especially grilled beef. Though the room is old and carpet in the hallway has old/unpleasant smell. We travel in summer so there are a lot of bugs and a few of it was actually in the room (one fly and one small bug).

Pretty good”
it's cost-effectiveness was bad. First of all, i stayed room number 1301, it's view was terrible. We can see only passage. Second, the hot spring was small in quantity. We always watch TV for present condition of hot spring. Everything including facility & employees' attitude was good except for these two things.

Nice and cozy place, good quality kaiseki dinner.”
We stayed 2 nights here. Very good hotel. We booking Mt.Yufu view and it’s nice. Also we have experience both public & private onsen. But no more reservation for private onsen, just look on Inroom TV and will show the onsen available or not. Then run as fast as possible to the onsen because someone may looking for also. Both breakfast and dinner is great. Staffs very nice and helpful. Only one thing we don’t know before is NO BATHROOM in the room.. so we have to take a bath at the onsen which located on the opposit side our room.

Dinner and Onsen Good, Service Poor”
I was really looking forward to the hospitality at a ryokan in Yufuin. I’ve stayed at other ryokans in Japan and the service was over the top. Unfortunately the service at the Yufunogo Saigakukan was very poor. The young Japanese woman who checked us in did not smile and was not friendly. We had two twin beds and an area for the tatami mats. We chose to sleep on the tatami mats because the beds were not comfortable and we were told that if we slept on the beds we would be charged an extra price ! I’ve never heard of this at a hotel. The private onsen is a nice option but it’s tiny. The public onsen was much better with a nice view of the Yufuin mountain. The dinner was very good and the Miyazaki beef was probably the best beef I’ve ever eaten. The only downside again was the service. We waited a long time between some courses and other courses were very rushed. We were never asked how we liked the food and mostly ignored. I would not return to this hotel.
